She was born June 9, 1922 in Laredo, Texas to Dr.Jeremiah Ward, Jr., M.D. and Mattie Jane Duderstadt Ward. She was a resident of Matagorda County since 1954 and was a teacher for 43 years. She retired from the Tidehaven ISD in 1984. She was a member of St. Mark's Episcopal Church and was a former church organist. She is survived by: her son, Patrick Andrew Pennington and wife Vickie of Louisville, Kentucky; sisters, Jane Williamson of Gonzales and Imogene Jones of Phoenix, Arizona; and grandchildren, Will and Patrick Pennington of San Antonio, Shawn Pennington of Lubbock and Matthew and Luke Pennington of Louisville, Kentucky. She was preceded in death by: husband, James A. Pennington; parents, Dr. Jeremiah Ward, Jr., M.D. and Mattie Ward; and brother, Jeremiah Ward, III. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 8 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006 at St. Mark's Episcopal Church with the Rev. Harley Savage and the Rev. Hoss Gwin officiating.
