She was born June 7, 1935 in San Antonio to the late Alfred and Mabel Pasal Christie. Mrs. Havel was a life long resident of Blessing, a Teacher's Aid/Secretary for Blessing Elementary School for 26 years, and member of: St. Peters Catholic Church, Blessing American Legion Ladies Jr. Auxiliary Post 649, and ATPE. She is survived by: her husband, Frank J. Havel of Blessing; two daughters, Katherine Mauch of Blessing, and Sarah Sless of Louise; four sons, Douglas Havel of Houston, Dennis Havel of Corpus Christi, Kenneth Havel of Bulverde, and Roger Havel of Blessing; 27 grandchildren and 8 great grandchildren. Mrs. Havel was preceded in death by her parents and aunt. A Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Tuesday at Palacios Funeral Home. A Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2006 at St. Peter's Catholic Church of Blessing with the Father Sam Appiasi officiating. Interment will follow at St. Peter's Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Eric, Joshua, Lee, and Sterling Havel, Matt Mauch, and Troy Sless. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mrs. Havel's grandchildren, great grandchildren, Pete Estrello, Henry Havel, Scott Jackson, and Albert Smaistrla. Donations may be made to the Blessing American Legion Jr. Auxiliary Post 649, P.O. Box 192, Blessing, TX 77419, or The American Heart Association.
