Koch July 7, 1916 - May 7, 2006 Mr. Walter Friedrich Koch, age 89 of Lane City, Texas died Sunday, May 7, 2006 in a Bay City Nursing Home following an extended illness. He was born on July 7, 1916 in Rosenberg, Texas the son of the late Herman Koch and Minnie Hacker Koch. Mr. Koch was a resident of Lane City for the past 78 years and was a member of St. John's Lutheran Church in Wharton. He married Neva Eunice Wojhan on May 29, 1942 in Houston and she preceded him in death on August 28, 1998. He was also preceded in death by four sisters, and a daughter-in-law. He worked as a pipefitter at Dow Chemical until his retirement in 1982. He also worked as a farmer, an oil field worker and a carpenter. Friends may call for visitation from 6 until 9 p.m. Wednesday at the Wharton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 11, 2006 at St. John's Lutheran Church in Wharton with the Pastor Barry Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Wharton. Survivors include: daughters and sons-in-law, Judith and Bill Acuff of Bay City, Texas and Carolyn and Ben Hunziker of Okinawa, Japan; sons and daughters-in-law, Walter (Butch) Koch, Jr. of Lane City, Edward and Jean Koch of Pasadena, Texas, Kenneth and Gail Koch of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Robert and Deb Koch of Angleton, Texas and Richard Koch of Wharton; brother, Arthur Koch of Lane City; fourteen grandchildren and nine great grandchildren. Special Care Giver, Ramona Sedillo. Pallbearers will be his grandsons. In lieu of usual remembrances the family requests memorials to St. John's Lutheran Church Building Fund, 614 Pecan St., Wharton, TX 77448.
