He was born on July 14, 1953 to Petra and Pete Mata, Sr. of Bay City. Survivors include: daughter, Angie Mata of Corpus Christi; son, Oscar Mata, Jr. of Corpus Christi; sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Luna, Darlene Chavez, Lora and Charles Winn all of Bay City, and Olga Mata and Roal Gomez of Corpus Christi; brothers and sisters-in-law, Ben and Sandra Enriquez of Wharton, and Louis and Rose Charles of Hungerford; eight grandchildren and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Edward Mata and Pete Mata, Jr. both of Bay City. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Bay City.
