She was born to John and Joan Dickerson on February 27, 1955, in Bay City, Texas. Shane grew up in Bay City and lived her early adult years there. She graduated in 1977 from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Interior Design. A member of ASID, she was co-owner and designer of Interiors by Shane in Bay City for many years, and later was a partner in Lagniappe. In 1988, Shane married Don Carter and moved to the Conroe area. The family has since resided in Walden on Lake Conroe. Because of Don’s career with Edward Jones, Shane had many rewarding friendships and experiences with the Edward Jones “family.” Shane was a devoted wife, mother, daughter and friend. A talented designer by training and instinct, she also was people oriented, as her former clients would attest. Shane possessed a lifelong passion for dance, from childhood recitals, to the disco dance floor, to her middle-age tap lessons and performances. Her positive outlook, her sense of style and her exuberant personality will be sorely missed. Services for Shane will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, September 29, 2005, at Metcalf Funeral Chapel in Conroe, with the Rev. Mike Landes and the Rev. Mike Steele officiating. A graveside service will be at 4 p.m. at Cedarvale Cemetery (north entrance) in Bay City, with the Rev. John Pope officiating. Visitation will be from 6 until 8 p.m. Wednesday, at Metcalf Funeral Home. Shane is survived by: her husband, Don Carter; son, Mark; parents, John and Joan Dickerson; siblings, John Dickerson III and Jane Dickerson; nieces, Evan Wheat, Lauren Wheat and Caroline Dickerson; and nephew, Hawes Dickerson. In addition, she is survived by Lynn Longwill, Barb Holt, Rita Hinds, Diana Mathis, Cindy Garrett, Bruce Larson (Mark’s godfather) and a host of other friends and family. Serving as pallbearers will be Mark Carter, Don Heathcott, Jimmy Maxwell, Duane Rossmann and Bruce Larson, In memory of Shane, donations may be made to the Montgomery County Community Foundation, 57 Blush Hill, Conroe, Texas, 77304, or the charity of your choice.
