She was proud to tell everyone that she was 83 years old and was looking forward to her 84th birthday. She left her earthly cares behind on October 3, 2005 at Victoria, Texas to join her Heavenly family. She had a deep and abiding faith in God and prayed daily for the safety and well being of her family and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 47 years, Ervin Henry Preuss; a brother, Emmit Schultz; sisters, Mary Jane Hadley, Elsie Merton, and Myrtle Hinton. She is survived by a brother and sister-in-law, Charlie and Vernice Schultz of Rosenberg, whom she loved dearly. She will be missed by: her children, C.A. and Nancy Preuss of Ganado; Gladys and Billy Bassham of Ganado; and Joyce and Mitch Richmond of Bay City. She was especially proud her grandchildren, Arthur Preuss (Donna) of Conroe, Jackie Vaughn (Randy) of Victoria, Bobbi Wigginton (Jay Paul) of El Campo, Vicki Schneider (Patrick) of Bastrop, Candiss Evans (Terry) of Katy, and Curtis Richmond (Rachael) of College Station. She loved to brag about her great-grandchildren, Ryan Muscik, Kayla, Eric, and Alyssa Preuss, Devin Fowler and Kendra Vaughn, Jason Sulak and Lauren Wigginton, Chelsea and Allison Schneider, Dane Evans, Madison Avants, and Austin Evans. She was looking forward to the birth of her fourteenth great-grandchild in December. She is mourned by a host of friends and extended family. She will be especially missed by her close circle of friends who enjoyed daily phone calls and trips around town and to church. Many have already missed seeing her red and white truck traveling the streets of Ganado. Mamie and Ervin are remembered for the wonderful barbecue they cooked and served at their restaurant, Ganado Barbecue Stand. Mamie loved telling everyone about her years of driving a truck during the time they owned and operated a trucking business in Ganado. She also enjoyed embroidering keepsakes for her friends and family. Mamie worked many long, hard hours along side her husband. She was a strong woman, a faithful wife and a beloved mother and grandmother who will be sorely missed by everyone she touched. Pallbearers are Charles Wayne Preuss, Marty Preuss, Mike Standley, Jeff Merton, Larry Gonzales, and Donnie Tegeler. Honorary Pallbearers are Dr. Bruce Bauknight, the special angels who cared for Mamie at DeTar Hospital, her close circle of friends, and all those who faithfully visited her over the last several months.
