Hale Friday, September 30, 2005 CORPUS CHRISTI - Leoma J. Smith Hale, 89, died Thursday, Sept. 29, 2005. She was born Feb. 23, 1916, in Matagorda County, to the late Thomas B. and Irma Smith. She worked in the Matagorda County Tax Office for 20 years, many of those years as Chief Deputy, and was a member of First Baptist Church in Bay City, retired from Cages Six Points Store as a bookkeeper with 17 years service and was a member of Parkdale Baptist Church. Survivors: daughters, Barbara Hale of Splendora, and Judy Shockley of Corpus Christi; son, Bryan Hale of El Campo; sisters, Ethel Goode of Kingsville and Pauline Hickey of Bay City; brother, Tom Smith of El Paso; seven grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by: husband, Ardie E. Hale; son, Connie E. Hale; sister, Myrtle Johnson; brothers, Oscar Smith and Joe Smith; and three grandchildren. Services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Cage-Mills Funeral Directors, in Corpus Christi. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Monday at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing [Matagorda County, Texas].
