He was born on Jan. 1, 1963, in McAllen, Texas, to Edwin Jackson and Lynette (Andrus) Rowell. Derick was a self-employed businessman. Derick is survived by: his wife of 13 years, Kim Rowell of Allen; mother, Lynette Andrus Rowell of McKinney, Texas; children, Heith Benzine and wife, Ellen, of Richardson, Texas, Aaron Benzine of Allen; Chris Rowell of McKinney, and Stephen Rowell of Allen; brother, Jon Rowell and wife Jeanie of McAllen, Texas; brothers-in-law, Terry Jones and wife Vickie and Mark Jones and wife Debbie; mother-in-law, Dixie Sager; nephews, Michael and Ray Rowell, Bryan Jones and wife Kristin, Justin Jones and Tristin Jones; nieces, Staci Jones, Angela Griffin and Audrey and Allyson Parks; and his very best friend since childhood, Jerry Don Pyle. His father, Edwin Jackson Rowell, precedes him in death. A memorial service will be at 4 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22, 2005, at Turrentine-Jackson-Morrow Chapel.
