She was born August 12, 1918, in El Maton, Texas, to the late Alex Edwin and Katherin Barbara Herreth Schulte. Mrs. Cowger was a member of Holy Cross Catholic Church in Bay City, a resident of Markham since 1959 and a former resident of Clemville, Texas. Survivors include: daughter, Patricia Cowger of Markham; son and daughter-in-law, James Nelson and Joyce Cowger of Markham; sister, Ola Mae Logan of Blessing, Texas; three grandchildren, James N. Cowger II and wife Tanya of San Antonio, Texas, Karen Beth Boswell of Austin, Texas, and Laura Rene Gonzalez and husband Ernie of San Antonio, Texas; one step-granddaughter, April Thompson and husband Brad of North Branch, Michigan; eight great-grandchildren, Katie, Alexander and Christinane Milam, Sabrina and Miranda Gonzalez and Harry, Heather and Hannah Cowger; four step-great grandchildren, Randi Mikulenka, Daniel, Geneva and Cody Thompson. She was preceded in death by her son, George Edward Cowger. Rosary was at 7 p.m. Thursday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the funeral mass was at 11 a.m. Friday, September 9, 2005, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, with the Rev. Casey Jarzombek officiating. Interment followed at Hawley Cemetery in Blessing, Texas. Pallbearers were James Cowger, James Cowger, Jr. Harry Cowger, Edmond Logan, Alexander Milam and Ernie Gonzalez.
