He was born October 7, 1909, to the late Robert Lee and Nancy Ophelia Seals Thompson. He was a resident of Deer Park the past two years, a former 50-year resident of Bay City, and a member of the Baptist Church. He was a member of carpenters and millwright local 213. Survivors include: three daughters, Joyce Gross of Huntsville, Texas, Jimmie Gilpin of Deer Park, Texas, and Kathy LaBlanc of Lake Charles, Louisiana; son, Don Ray Thompson of Sonoma, California; 10 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife: Hettie Inez Byrd Thompson; three sisters; and seven brothers. A funeral service was held at 2 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home Chapel, with the Rev. Chester Sassman officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Michael and Darin Gross, Kevin and Jeff Thompson, Terry, David and Timothy Gilpin and Robert Taylor. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City 245-4613.
