He was born October 11, 1944 in Bay City, Texas to the late Anastacio and Olivia Torres Garay. Mr. Garay was a lifetime resident of Bay City and was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include: wife, Margaret Escamilla Garay of Bay City; sons, Pete Garay, Jr., Gilbert Garay, and Joe Garay all of Bay City, Baltimore Garay of Tuson, Arizona; daughters and sons-in-law, America and Gerardo Lopez, Gina and Joe Sanchez, JoAnn Garay and Dante Estrada, and Corine and Albert Montalvo, Jr. all of Bay City; brothers, Anastacio Garay, Jr. of Houston, Julio Garay, Alfred Garay, Abel Garay, Adolf Garay and Steven Garay all of Bay City, Lee Garay of Houston, Texas, Felix Garay of Texas City, Texas, and Benino Garay of Russellville, Arizona; sisters, Rosalinda Zboral, Elida Garay and Adel Martinez all of Bay City, Virginia Garza of Russellville, Arizona, and Erminia Garay of Angleton; 24 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his brothers, Jose and Paul Garay; sisters, Janie Ruiz, Benne Garay, and Maria Garay; and grandson, Gilbert Garay, Jr. Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, October 6, 2005 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, and the funeral service was held at 2 p.m., Friday at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home with the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Pete Garay, Jr, Gilbert Garay, Joe D. Sanchez, Dante Estrada, Albert Montalvo, Jr, and Mac Briscoe. Honorary pallbearers were Phillip Soto, Joe D.
