She was born February 14, 1920, in West Columbia, Texas, to the late Francisco and Clementa DeSantiago Rangel. Mrs. Escamilla was a lifelong resident of Bay City and a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Survivors include: five daughters and a son-in-law, Lupe Reyes of Santa Fe, Texas, Margaret Garay, Janie Garay and Yolanda and Jorge Paredes, all of Bay City, and Rachael Valdez of Freeport; four sons and three daughters-in-law, Louis and Mary Esther Escamilla of San Antonio, Joe and Georgia Escamilla of Texas City, Leroy Escamilla of Bay City, and Tony and Lucy Arias of Clute; sisters, Mary Charles of Houston, and Margaret Barefield of Port Lavaca; brothers, Ray and Louis Rangel, both of Bay City, and Juan Rangel of Houston; 45 grandchildren, 102 great-grandchildren and 10 great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Jose Escamilla; daughter, Mary Hinojosa; sister, Clara Rangel; grandchild, Ignacio Reyes; and three great-grandchildren, Gilbert Garay Jr , Steven Garay Jr. and Jon Hinojosa. Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2005, at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The funeral mass was at 10 a.m. Friday at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment followed at Cedarvale Cemetery. Pallbearers were Juan Gonzales, Rene and Robert Gutierrez, Pete Jr., Gilbert and Steven Garay, Joe III, Vincent and Jackie Escamilla. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home.
