He was born December 25, 1922, in Rogers, Texas, to the Late Martin Luther and Mattie Jewell Robinson Underwood. Mr. Underwood served his country in the Army during WWII. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, a resident of Bay City since the age of 11, and retired from the First National Bank in 1986 after 35 years of service. Survivors include: his wife of 42 years, Lillian Ann Parker Underwood of Bay City; son, John Louis Underwood, Jr. and wife Nikole; and grandson, Hayden Parker Underwood, all of San Antonio. Mr. Underwood was preceded in death by his sister, Virginia Rigby. A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. Friday, October 14, 2005, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, with Dr. Joe Cannon Officiating. Interment followed at Roselawn Memorial Park in Van Vleck. Pallbearers were Tony Wells, Frank Baker, Jr., Ray Postum, Charlie Johnson, Brent Ethington and James Barbour.
