LaVern was born in Rock House Community, near Industry, Texas, on January 25, 1928, to Kenneth and Lille Rinn Veith. On November 24, 1946, she was married to Raymond E. Klaus. She lived in Columbus since 1946 and was a homemaker. She was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church. She also was a member of V.F.W. Post 6113 Auxiliary in Columbus, and Shaws Bend Home Demonstration, Evening Circle at St. Paul's Lutheran Church. She is survived by: daughters, Barbara Evanicky and husband, Leonard of Van Vleck, Texas, and Marilyn Yearwood and husband, James of Columbus, Texas; son, Rusty Klaus and wife Doris of Mentz, Texas; grandchildren, Ryan and Scott Evanicky, Nic and Eric Yearwood and Jeff, Bart and Will Klaus. LaVern was preceded in death by: her parents, Kenneth and Lille Rinn Veith; husband, Raymond E. Klaus; brother, Emmett Lee Veith; and an infant granddaughter. Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Columbus, Texas, with the Rev. Jeffrey Marsh officiating. Burial will follow at Odd Fellows Rest Cemetery in Columbus. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Henneke Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
