He was born Nov. 2, 1930, in Olivia, to the late Julio and Maria Rocha Tobias. He was a retired master plumber, a veteran of Korean War, U.S. Army, Private First Class, Corp. of Engineers/COBAT Engineers, former Matagorda County Constable Pct. No. 3, a member of Trailriders Association, American Legion, Fraternity of Eagles, and the American G.I. Forum. Survivors: wife, Rosalie Martino Tobias; daughter, Mary Bassett of Palacios, son, Manuel Thomas Tobias and Julio Martin Tobias, both of Houston; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren. Visitation will be after 5 p.m. Friday at Church of God of Prophecy at 510 4th Street in Palacios. A prayers service will follow at 7 p.m. Friday at the church. A second visitation will be after 9 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church, 202 Main Street in Palacios. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at First Baptist Church.
