He was born November 28, 1926, in Bay City, to Marcelino Perez Martinez and Petra Gutierrez Martinez. He was a lifelong resident of Bay City, a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church and a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He is survived by: his wife, Victoria Camarillo Martinez of Bay City; daughters, Petra Campos of Gonzales, Rosemary Martinez, Pauline Martinez, Tomasa Perez, Mary Jane Montalvo and Alice Guzman, all of Bay City; sons, Gonzalo Martinez, David Martinez and Patricio Martinez, all of Bay City, Joaquin Martinez of Rockport, and Jerry Martinez of Alvin; an adopted sister, Elida Flores of Bay City; an adopted brother, Javier Martinez of Bay City; and by 32 grandchildren and 24 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by: his parents, Marcelino P. and Petra G. Martinez; a son, Marcelino Martinez; and a sister, Mary Lou Montague. The rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Thursday, January 19, 2006, at Taylor Bros. Chapel. The funeral mass was at 2 p.m. Friday, January 20, 2006, at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City with military honors provided by the Philip H. Parker VFW Post No. 2438. Pallbearers will be Ricky Luera, Ruben Lewis Jr., Leobardo Alfaro, Pat Martinez Jr., Gilbert Garza and Jerry Martinez Jr. Arrangements with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home, Bay City, TX (979) 245-4613.
