He was born February 26, 1930, in San Juan, Texas, to Cruz Lara, Sr. and Francisca Muniz Lara. He had been a resident of Blessing since 1952, and was a member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church. He is survived by: his wife of 55 years, Maria F. Lara of Blessing; five daughters and four sons-in-law, Delia and Nick Carrillo, Jr. of Bay City, Estell Cordero of Puerto Rico, Irma and John Vasquez of Waukesha, Wisconsin, Martha and Ramiro Alanis of Blessing, and Teresa and Carleton Revis of Wilson Creek; son and daughter-in-law, Oscar and Kristen Lara of Blessing; four brothers, Cruz Lara, Tony Alvarado, Vincent Alvarado and Lino Lara; one sister, Alicia Pendleton; sixteen grandchildren, Noel Lee Muniz, Michael Rivera, David Rivera, Alex Rivera, Daniel Campos, Jr., Tiana Vasques, Johnny V. Vasquez, Mario Lara, Christopher Byars, Rebecca Byars, John Salinas, Maria Teresa Salinas, Justin Lara, Vincent Lara, Karissa Lara and Marcus Lara; seventeen great-grandchildren; and his dog, Loco. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Maria Fransica Soto, and two brothers, Pete Lara, Sr. and Emilio Lara. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2005, at St. Peter’s Church in Blessing. Funeral mass will be at 10 a.m. Thursday, August 18, 2005, at St. Peter’s Church in Blessing, with the Rev. Samuel Appiasi officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery in Blessing. Pallbearers include: Noel Muniz, John Salinas, Mario Lara, Vincent Lara, Christopher Byars, Mike Rivera, Alex Rivera and Justin Lara.
