Per 1850 Matagorda County, TX census records, I know that Robert T. Van Slyke was born abt. 1814. Should you have said "Died Aug. 17, 1856" instead of "Born Aug. 17, 1856"? Also, I am unable to locate the family of Andrew Jackson Foster after 1880 census.
