She was a retired school teacher for Calhoun County ISD, with 32 years of service, retiring in 1977. She also was a member and past Worthy Matron in the Eastern Star, a former member and past president of Classroom Teachers Association in Port Lavaca, Texas. Survivors include: daughter, Margaret West of Lake Jackson, Texas; two sons and a daughter-in-law, C.L. and Melissa Cook, Jr. of Bay City, and Donald Cook of Port Lavaca; sister, Nellie Griffith of Bay City; brother, Travis Harrison of Bay City; seven grandchildren, Harrison Cook of El Campo, David Cook of Natchitoches, Louisiana, Donnie Cook of Austin, Christy Edwards of Victoria, Christopher Cook of Port Lavaca, Matt West of Bay City, and Mark West of San Antonio, Texas; six great-grandchildren; sisters-in-laws, Carmel Harrison of Bay City, Mabel Harrison of Houston, Melba Birkner of Vanderpool, and Dorothy Cook of Garland; and brother-in-law, Thomas Cook of Dallas. She was a very active member of the First Baptist Church of Markham and taught Sunday School for many years. Mrs. Reed was a loving wife and mother and was always providing love, support and care to others. Survivors include: daughter and son-in-law, Lana and Joe Ramsey of Markham; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Wendell and Lisa Reed and Randall Reed, all of Markham, Texas; sister, Orenell Reed of Edna, Texas; grandchildren, Rachel Rush and husband Louis of Palacios, Lisa Sexton and husband Kenny of Markham, Kelly Sanders and husband Doug of Brenham, Texas, and Lauren Reed and Chelsea Reed, both of Orlando, Florida; great-grandchildren, Caleb, Joshua and Hannah Rush and Tanner and Taylor Sexton. Lowrey April 21, 1915 - Oct. 23, 2005 W.W. “Bill” Lowrey, Jr., 90, of Bay City, passed away Sunday, October 23, 2005. He was born April 21, 1915, in Wharton, Texas, to Wallace Walker Lowery, Sr. and Annie Myra Davidson Lowrey. He was a former mill manager and chief pilot for Adolphus Rice in Houston. From 1943 to 1945, during World War II, he served as Advanced Group Commander of the 319th AAFWFTD training the W.A.S.P. (Women’s Airforce Service Pilots) in Sweetwater. He was a resident of Bay City since 1988, a member of the First United Methodist Church, a member of Masonic Lodge No. 1317 of Lake Jackson, and retired as chief pilot for the Dow Chemical Company. He is survived by: his wife, Ruth M. Lowrey of Bay City; his sons, Wallace Walker Lowrey III and wife Paula of Cypress, James Michael Lowrey and wife Leslie of Lake Jackson, and Arthur Harris Lowrey of Lake Jackson; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by: caregivers, Iris Diaz, Laura Diaz, Maria Luisa Galvan, Monica Serrano, Andriana Mendoza and Gabriella Rodriquez; and by his special cat, Rhett. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marguerite Harris Lowrey, and by his parents, Ann and Wallace W. Lowrey, Sr. The family received friends at Taylor Bros.
