He died June 14, 2006. He was a truck driver for the U.S. Postal Service where he retired after 20 years of service. He was a Catholic and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War where he served as a paratrooper. He is survived by his wife, Consuelo Robles Constancio; daughters, Lupe Rodriguez of La Porte, Josefa "Josie" Christiansen, Tina Gonzalez, and Deena Constancio, all of Palacios; sons, Erbey De La Garza of Big Lake, Louis Constancio of Houston, Roland Constancio of Blessing, Eduardo "Edward" R. Hollis attended Bay City Public Schools from the first grade thru the eleventh. During High School he began working at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. In 1960 he enrolled in the Dallas Institute-Gupton Jones Mortuary School and graduated in 1961. He worked as a funeral director and embalmer in Galveston, Texas; Dyersburg, Tennessee and Dayton, Texas before accepting a position with Taylor Bros. Funeral Home in Bay City from 1970 to 1976. After working in the Insurance Business in Louisiana, he returned to his life's work as a funeral director with Taylor Bros. In 1979 and remained there until his death. He served as Funeral Director In Charge for the Palacios Funeral Home for many years. Hollis joined the Bay City Lions Club over 26 years ago. He served as Lion Tamer, Tail Twister and served on the Board of Directors several times. He worked as a member of the Rice Festival Committee several times and served as Bingo Chairperson for over 20 years. He was also a very active member of The Bay City Coastalaires. He touched the lives of many during his years at Taylor Bros. Survivors include: his wife, Beverly Joice Kirkland of Bay City; sons, Hollis D. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Matagorda. Mr. Banyansco was employed as a Tug Boat Deck Hand until his retirement. He loved gardening, especially growing grapefruit and oranges, and he loved to visit with friends, whether they were old friends or people he just met. Interment followed in the Matagorda Cemetery in Matagorda, Texas. The Matagorda County Tribune October 14, 1948 Matagorda County, Texas Former Resident Here Succumbs After Short Illness Mr. William Leake McCamly, age 72, native of Matagorda County passed away at the National Memorial Hospital in Casper, Wyo., on Thursday, October 14, after a short illness. Mr. McCamly had been a resident of Casper for many years and was widely known. During his residence there he was active in all civic organizations and agencies. He had been associated with the Texas Company since 1911 and had been a consignee in his district since 1926. In addition to his gasoline business, Mr. McCamly was also president of Guaranty Federal Savings and Loan Association. Mr. McCamly, known to his friends as "Bo," was born in Matagorda County in 1876. In 1901 he and Miss Ada Rugeley were married in Bay City. Mrs. McCamly passed away in 1913 [1914]. He is survived by one son, A. H. [R.] McCamly of Casper and two daughters, Mrs. E. E. Cortes of Houston and Mrs. Thomas Wheaton of Casper. There are five grandchildren, Jane and Earl Cortes, Shirley McCamly and Thomas and William Wheatley [Wheaton]. Mr. McCamly was a member of the Masons and the Shrine, the Elks lodge, and the Casper Kiwanis Club. He was a member of the Salvation Army advisory board, and had served on the Natrona County welfare board. He was appointed to the welfare board in 1935 and resigned the position in 1937 because of the pressure of business. During most of that period he served as chairman of the board. Mr. McCamly also served on the board of trustees of Natrona County Memorial Hoospital for a number of years and was president of the board for one year. He was a member of the Episcopal church. Funeral services were conducted Friday after at 2 p.m., at the Horstman - Gay chapel, with the Rev. Marcus Hitchcock of St. Marks Episcopal Church officiating. Interment was in Highland Cemetery. Flores April 4, 1932 - May 31, 2006 Beatrice G. Flores, 74 of Bay City, passed away Wednesday, May 31, 2006. She was born April 4, 1932 in Markham, Texas to Joseph Gonzales and Teresa Losoya Gonzales. Beatrice was a life long resident of Matagorda County, a devoted member and served as a Eucharistic Minister of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church. Her volunteer work consisted of being a member of the American GI Forum, the Pink Ladies Auxiliary and the St. Vincent de Paul Society. She worked at Hamilton's Bakery for many years and later in life was employed by the Economic Action Committee Sr. Citizens of Matagorda County. Beatrice's family and friends will remember her as a very generous and loving person with great integrity and enthusiasm of life. Her wonderful sense of humor and positive outlook made her a joy to be around. She will be remembered primarily for her strong belief and faith in God. She is survived by: her daughters, Theresa F. Martinez and husband Charles, III, of Bay City, Esperanza Flores of Bay City, Lisa Ann Flores of Austin and Catherine Firestone and husband Joel of Round Rock; by her sons, Fabian Flores and wife Mary Ann of Maryland, Joseph P. Flores of Mineral Wells; daughter-in-law, Julia Flores of Wilminton, North Carolina; by her sisters, Margaret Lozano of Bay City and Teresa Luna of Houston; and by her brothers, Joe Gonzales of Wharton and Richard Gonzales of Bay City. She is also survived by her nine grandchildren, Charles F. Martinez, Stephanie Nicole Martinez, Nicholas Flores, Victoria Firestone, Ann Marie Steinberg, Sandra Parkhill, Patrick Flores, Andrew Flores and Cierra Flores; and by nine great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by: her husband, Nicholas B. Flores; her parents, Joseph and Teresa L. Gonzales; and by her brother, Pete Gonzales. The Rosary was held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, June 1, 2006 at Taylor Bros. Funeral Home. The Funeral Mass will be held at 4 p.m. Friday, June 2, 2006 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with the Rev. Gerry Cernoch officiating. Interment will follow at Cedarvale Cemetery in Bay City. Pallbearers will be Patrick Flores, Andrew Flores, Charles F. Martinez, Albert Luna, Robert Luna, and Rudy Lozano. Honorary pallbearers are the men and women of the American GI Forum. AUSTIN A message was received in this city this morning by Mrs. George Austin, announcing the death in San Antonio of Mrs. Sophia Austin, wife of our former fellow-townsman, Judge Wm. E. Austin. Mrs. Austin had been ill for many months and death came this morning at about 8:30. The funeral will take place in San Antonio tomorrow afternoon. Decedent was a life long resident of this county and was well and most favorably known by all old settlers. For years she and Judge Austin resided in Bay City, moving to San Antonio a few years ago in the interest of her health. [Note: Sophia Preisig first married William A. McCamly and married Wm. E.
