Need info. on Mr. and Mrs.DICK and NANCY (Nannie) JANE MATTHEWS who adopted a GRACIE THOMAS in Tarrant co. TX. in 1884 from an ANNIE THOMAS. The Matthews were somehow connected to a LAURA BELL SHAWVER who at one point lived in Clarenden TX. Dick had a sister, JULIANA and his mothers maiden name was JULIA SMITH. They originaly came from N.Y. When Dick entered the civil war he changed his name to McHERD for some unknown reason. Any info appreciated! Brigitte
