Posted on: Llano County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/gc/USA/Tx/Llano/10448 Surname: Meek ------------------------- After veiwing some of your post,I found that you speak of my family.My grandfather J.O.Meek/J.O.Meeks is the one whom had the Meek name by forth right changed to Meeks.The Meek family name dates back to to the time of Plymouth Rock and has direct linkage to the Vanderbelt family.Also direct linkage to the Fosters of Pensylvania were Meek was more prominent before the change,then originated in Bowling Green ohio as Meeks.My grandfather was well known for the designs for the C&0 RailRoads as well as the building of RailRoads through out Alabama.My great,great,great aunt was the first female school teacher in Ohio.The Meek/Meeks family has an out standing herritage back ground that has many famous connections wich includes.Slavery Ownership/Authors/Teachers/Law Enforcement and much more. My grandfather also wrote a book on what it was like to go blind in wich he learned hypnotism and several other arts as well listed in his book.. Sincerly Lynn Dye..
