Does anyone know if the Marble Falls Library holds documents or old family histories? I'd like to find out if they have any family histories on the surnames Phillips, Haynes, Walker, and Lawhon. If this library is "on-line" do you know the URL or email? Thanks for your help, Viki
Viki, Marble Falls doesn't carry genealogy material. The library in Burnet has a good collection, and I hear the new library in Llano does also. The ladies in the courthouse in Llano were very helpful. I have two lines of Walkers in Llano County. Have we talked before? I blew up my AOL software and lost all my old email. Sandy

Robert's wife, Sara Elizabeth SATTERWHITE b. abt 1830; place: uncertain (maybe Ark); d. unknown. After Roberts death (sometime after 1854) she is supposed to have remarried to a Mr. Dunning. Their son William Dempsey EDWARDS b. 1854; place: uncertain (some place in the Hill country); d. 1936 Austin, TX. Willaim's death certificate states that his parents were born in MS. William's wife, Sara Elizabeth DURBIN, b. 1854; place: MO; d. 1938 Cedar Park, TX. Any look-ups will be of great help and value. If you have ANY questions please e-mail me at carlton@eastland.net. Janice, I found a Zachariah Wimberly in early 1800 from N. Carolina. Names include Quinnie Mae, Pleasant, Warren, Amanda, Issac, Albert. One of Warren Wimberly's dtrs or sisters married one of my Phillips, Gum Phillips. Do any of these names connect? Blevins-Shults family is on page 71. Richard Blevins married Elizabeth "Betsy" Jones, a Cherokee Indian near Tenn. Richard's brother was Squire who also married an Indian. Richard's son, Armstead and Andrew Jackson Blevins went to Navarro co, Tx. Both married Shults girls. Armstead and Delila had the following children: Misanair, Seth Monroe, Martin J., and Wade H. "Buck". Monroe and Buck were Texas Rangers in 1861 and helped search for the captive Cynthia Ann Parker. All three sons joined the Civil War. There is more if this sounds like your kin. On page 196 is Joshua Brown Mayes who married Mary Blanche Hargon. children were Gordon, L.H., Elizabeth Gray, Ila, Blanche, Alice, Nora, Eugene, Naomi. Wiliam Hays Wallace married Elizabeth Gray Mayes and they had two sons; William Brown Wallace and Joe Thomas Wallace. William Brown Wallace married Elizabeth Patterson (Joe Tom Wallace) ((that's what is written! I'm just typing it) This was his favorite story while serving as Justice of Peace concerning a party given for the elite social circle of Llano at Buchanan Dam. The dam was still new when this took place in 1937. the hosts and hostesses included S. E. Chestnuts (grandson of J. B. mayes), and the Carlos Ashley Sr (District Attorney of Llano, San Saba, Burnet and several other counties). The main dish was fried fish. When Judge Mayes found out that the fish had been caught illegally. "The judge wouldn't budge" and he fined them for serving illegal fish! (submitted by Rebo Ray). There are 6 more paragraphs on John Mayes, Jr. If this is your family, let me know and I will type the rest that was submitted by Charlotte Gres. Found nothing on Spurling family. Happy hunting! Nelda Conner. Per your request: From the LLANO COUNTY FAMILY ALBUM by the Llano Historical Society: "Addison Barker Conner was born 28 September 1823 in Edgefield County, South Carolina, the son of State Senator Catlett Conner and his wife Margaret, daughter of Major William Robinson of the same place. Built around 1800, the large two story house where he was born is still standing, and is occupied by the present owner. Addison was the tenth and youngest child in his family. His mother died when he was very young, and his father died when he was about nine years old. His eldest brother, William Robinson Conner, was living in Mississippi at that time, so the next eldest brother, Albert G. Conner, became the legal guardian of Addison and their sister Jane. Edgefield Probate Court records reveal that on 4 January 1839 Albert G. Conner advised the court that he was about to remove from the state, and requested permission to settle with his wards. The settlement of the estate was made, although Addison Conner was still under age. Several members of the family, including Albert G. Conner and his sister and brother-in-law, Caroline and Daniel H. Jones, moved to Lowndes County, Alabama. It is believed that Addison and Jane went with them, and were in the Jones household in 1840. We do not know the exact date Addison Conner arrived in Texas. His marriage is on record in Burnet County, where he obtained a license to wed Marina M. Coggin 22 May 1855. Marina was born 25 December 1833 in Georgia. By 1870, with six children, Addison and Marina were living in the Doublehorn area of Burnet County, and by 1880 they were living in Llano County. Their children were George Washington, John A., James Addison, Rebecca, Lee, William, Mary and Edwin. Marina Coggin Conner died 22 June 1895, and Addison Conner died 1 June 1896. Both are buried in Board Branch Cemetery at Lone Grove in Llano County." written by Alberteen Rahe Nelda, There are two pages written about J.L. Conners, Jr. related to the Cone and Edmund families. Is this some of your family too? Wanda

Barry, Is there anyone in Llano who is willing to do lookups? I am looking for anything on John Henry Phillips b. 3-3-1854 in Clay County, Illinois, came to Texas before 1884, married Mary Iberia Haynes 12-3-1884. Second marriage was to Minnie Lee (Lawhon) Anthony 12-10-1905. He died 7-2-1927 and is buried at Marble Falls Cemetery next to his second wife. I can't find a death certificate so am looking for an obit. He was related to Benjamin Phillips and Malissa Crownover. I have plenty on his Haynes family relations, but very little on his Phillips family. I need his parents and siblings. I think he was a sheriff or deputy because there is reference to him guarding convicts in one of the family letters. He and Mary Iberia lived on Benjamin's ranch much of the time, but I haven't found any records of his land purchases. If you or anyone else there would be willing to do lookups, I too would be willing to pay for time and copies. My name is Nelda and I am new to the list. I am researching the ancestors and descendents of Addison Barker Conner. Addison and his wife Mariann are both buried at the Board Branch Cemetery in Long Grove, TX. I would like to know what newspapers were around when Addison died and if it is possible to get a copy of his obituary. I would like to know where to visit to get more genealogical information when I come to Llano Co. in the future. Nelda Conner
