    3. Posted on: Llano County Queries Reply Here: http://cgi.rootsweb.com/~genbbs/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Llano/331 Surname: NOBLES, THORP, COWAN ------------------------- If this Bible is in the possession of the L.V. Nobles family, then it is in the possession of his only child, Gertrude Suggs and her only child, Sue. Gertrude is quite elderly and her health is failing. Sue now lives in the area, but I do NOT know her married name. Gertrude still has a home in Golden Beach, Buchanan Dam, and the family still has the place L.V. Nobles lived in at the time of his death, located on the Shaw Island Road. The only Suggs in the phone book is C.M. Suggs, Buchanan Dam, phone #512-793-2717 It might be wise to follow up on this while Gertrude is still alive. KARUSSELL

    3. Hello List, Nikki Wiebe has submitted a survey of the Flat Rock Cemetery, in Llano Co. Hope it helps some of you. A hugh THANK YOU !! to Nikki, for doing this, for us all!! If any of you have data such as this, please consider sending it to me for posting on the Llano page. None of us would be doing much genealogy without the generosity of others, in sharing their material. I'm certainly not asking you to give a lot, of what you've spent years and thousands of dollars to obtain (I understand that completely, having been asked to send "everything I have on my XXXX Line, which would be close to 10,000 names and $10,000 dollars) but, a little of something, that you know, could benefit others? If you have a outline tree (i.e. from Family Tree Maker) that you could submit, or a family history in story form, I can put a PIONEER OR COUNTY FAMILY link on the page and place all this oral history or data there. I had plans for extracting a great deal of information from Llano myself and placing it online. But, since I've moved and no longer have access to the Llano Co. material, I have to depend on you all. Thanks, Sue Ashby

    3. Posted on: Llano County Queries Reply Here: http://genconnect.rootsweb.com/genbbs.cgi/USA/Tx/Llano/320 Surname: Thorp, Stidham, Cowan, Kemp ------------------------- Llano County queries...was interested in several things among which was the location of the Thorp family Bible. In a posted response to a thread in Lincoln Co TN reference is made that thirdhand information places it in possession of the L.V. Nobles family of Bluffton TX. Further, the David Calvin Cowan family Bible was last known to be in the possession of the Thorp family... Information derived from Menard County, Texas Biographies indicated George Jones Thorp (s/o Joseph Lewis and Elly Cowan-Thorp)married first Westley Jane A. Thompson b. 18 Aug 1869, 2nd m. Margaret Matilda "Tillie" Tow which you probably already know. Brothers to George J. Thorp were: David Cowan Thorp b. Aug 5, 1833; James Luther Thorp b. April 24, 1836; and Gideon Cowan Thorp b. Dec 13, 1844. His sister was Margaret Ruth b. August 26, 1842. Further, Joseph Lewis Thorp was the son of James M. Thorp b. April 15, 1877 and his father was Theotho Thorp, born abt 1701 in Virginia. I come through the line w/ son of David Cowan Thorp being my great-grandfather. His name was Simeon "Sim" David Thorp and he and my great-grandmother, Elvira Gertrude Stidham Thorp lived and died in Tribune Kansas, after their marriage in Sherwood Texas on December 29, 1901 at the Sherwood Baptist Church. We (my siblings and I) are just beginning this process and are overwhelmed with all the "branches" there seem to be, but would be thrilled to share information along the way and hope that others would continue to share w/ us. We plan to work hard on this. We are all spread out from Virginia to California, but that might be good as access to records might be better! My brother still sends money (a teeny-tiny amount) for cemetery fund maintenance(?) yearly, to Big Lake, Reagan County TX. We would love to figure out who/what this is for! Any help with this? Thanks so much for any help you or others can give.
