    2. This is a Message Board Post that is gatewayed to this mailing list. Surnames: Williams Greer Stafford Blocker Bennett Simmons Sudduth Hutson Classification: Query Message Board URL: http://boards.ancestry.com/mbexec/msg/rw/jlB.2ACI/1761 Message Board Post: I am trying to find more information about George Washington Williams b. April 12, 1840 in Alabama I believe his father was born in Virginia but sometimes it says Kentucky. His mother is always listed as from Tn. Don't know their names. 1860 Census Leake County, Ms marries Nancy Jane Greer d/o Micajah Henry Greer and Jane Hutson. 1862 musters into service with Co. E 27th Miss. Infantry "Leake Rovers". He was captured by Jame Harrison Wilson's Cavalry late 1864. 1870 Census Leake County, Ms back on the census then leaves Ms. with serveral families in a Wagon trail to Texas. These families include (Leake co.) Blocker, Bennett, Sudduth, and Simmons (Attala co.) families. There are probably more. Still researching this. Many of these men in the wagon served in the Civil War together. esp. Co. E 27th Miss. Infantry 1880 Census Hill County, Tx These families settle in Hill, Ellis, Limestone counties. And of course DFW area today. George W. Williams dies Sept. 13, 1912 and is buried in Point Enterprise Cemetery, Limestone County, TX. I have all of his children info. many of his descendants still live in Mexia in Limestone County. My branch went to Mexia > Maypearl > Ft. Worth > Austin, Tx today. I found two large Williams families in Leake County that could work but have not been able to make the connection yet. The John Philemon Williams/Solomon Taylor Williams branch that seems the best fit. Since it has a Va. male line and Tn. female line. And a Lott W. Williams. neither seems to fit yet. Would like to hear from relatives of Williams Greer Stafford Blocker Bennett Simmons Sudduth families and other Mississippi families as well any helpful info. Thanks Jake Williams jwilliam@mail.smu.edu
