This is for June Archer Who is the Richardson and Ashcraft families you are researching I have Ashcrafts that I am working on as well with connections to Anson Co Nc in the 1800 period and 1850 Shelby co Tx and 1860 Smith Co Tx Levi Henderson Ashcraft b 9-25-1807 died in Tyler Smith Co Tx on 4-18-1853 his parents were William Ashcraft and Elizabeth Sides and William had a brother named Benjamin C Ashcraft who married a woman we only know as Elizabeth Benj and William are sons of Thomas Ashcraft RS who married a Indian Princess named Oholabamah (from her tombstone) the Richardson family that I am connected to came fromNC to GA to MS to LA to MS then to Jasper Co Tx then some to Limestone Co Tx My earliest I can document is Benjamin Richardson who married Sarah Mizell in Tyrrell Co NC 9-30-1767 they then went to Bulloch Co GA then in 1807 - Migrated to West Florida territory which became St.Tammany then Washington Parish Loui siana. There son John Richardson who married Nancy Albritton daughter of Richard Albritton John Richardson 1 Jul 1809 - Met in conference. rec'd by letter Sister Mary Goyne. Rec'd by letter Brother John Richardson.....also mentioned in minutes of meetings on May 5, 1810, Sept 1, 1810 and Nov. 3 1810. "Ebenezer Baptist Church Minutes, Amite County, Mississippi (1807-1907)". 1813. Land Grant. Plat. West Florida Territory. John owned section 47, Tract 3 West, Range 13 East, in the West Florida Territory (now St. Ta mmany and Washington Parishes, Louisiana). NOTE: On my copy, the # of acres is cut off. 23 Dec 1814- 10 Mar 1815. War of 1812 Service. Louisiana. 12th and 13th Consolidated Regiments of the Louisiana Militia under the command of 1st Lt. El isha Harrell in his Detachment of Mounted Gunmen acting as Spies. 1820. John moved his family from Washington Parish, Louisiana, to Simpson County, Mississippi . Here his first wife, Nancy Albritton, died and he married the widow, Mary Mahaffey. John and his family stayed in Mississippi until he migrated to Texas after the Texas Revolution, about 1838. 1820 Census - Washington Parish, La. John Richardson 2 m <10,(Richard A. and Amos) 1 m 10/16, (James) 1 m >45,(John); 2 f <10,(Frances and unknown) 1 f 10/16,(Penelope) 1 f 16/26,(unknown ) 1 f >45,(Nancy); 5 slaves. 1830 Census - Simpson County, MS. John Richardson, Sr. 2m 10-15,(Richard A. and Amos); 1m 60-70(John); 1f <5y(Sarah); 2f 15-20(Penelope and unknown ) ; 1f 20-30(Mary Mahaffey). Dec 1838. John migrates to Jasper County, Texas. He received a 3rd Class Headright grant o f 640 acres, conditional certificate No. 62 issued in Jan 1840; unconditional 1 Jan 1844, pat ented 25 Sep 1849 vol.6 #135, General Land Office, Austin, Tx; patent recorded in Deed Book D , page 383 and 384, Jasper County, Texas, 15 Nov 1853. Late Fall or Early Winter 1841. Founded Antioch Primitive Baptist Church. Buna, Jasper Co, TX. Cited in YELLOWED PAGES, VOL II, NO. 2, pp.1-4. Copy in file. According to a statement by Mary Richardson (this Mary was the wife of his son James my ggggrandfather), dated 12 Jan 1884, John Richardson organized the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church of Christ. This first church met at the home of John Richardson three miles east of the Neches River and five miles west of where Buna is located t oday. The first church building was erected in 1842. John and Mary Richardson are listed as F ounders and Charter members. Richardson Bluff Texas (Now Evadale) was named for John Richardson my gggggrandfather NO DATE. Registered Mark and Brand. Jasper Co, TX. Copied from earliest Record Book of Record ed Marks and Brands, p. 192. Copy in file. 1846. Tax list of Jasper County. Richardson, John Sr. 235 acres at $200 (original grantee John Richardson Sr.) 2 Negroes at $500; 3 horses at $75; 15 head of cattle at $90; household an d other property at $100. Total $940. $1.43 state and $.72 county tax. 1847. 1848. Tax List. 240 acres at $117 (John Richardson); 2 Negroes at $550, 20 head of cattl e at $80. Total $747. $1.49 state and $.74 county taxes. 1849. Tax list. 235 acres at $117 (his headright); 2 Negroes at $550, 3 horses at $100. Tota l value $767. $1.55 state and $.76 county taxes. 1850. Death of John Richardson. His was the first grave in the Antioch Cemetery, located near Buna, Jasper Co, TX. Tombstone erected by his descendants in the 1920s. In addition to the children I know as descendants it is probable that John and Nancy had two other children as indicated in the 1820 and 1830 census records. Both female one was born between 1794 and 1804 and the other between 1815 and 1820.
