Yes Pat. I collect old Obits on all my ancestors. I have collected some 100 to 125 on my ancestors and sometimes they will reveal much needed info...I will certainly take any obits on the Whitman family or any other Pruitt family....At this time I am working on the Benjamin Franklin Pruitt side. I am trying to prove or disprove that the following Benjamin F. Pruitt is my line or not: BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PRUIETT was born 1867, and died 1949. He married LECKIE HANEY, daughter of HIRAM HANEY and KESSAIH REED. She was born Aug. 13, 1872 and died June 30, 1945 in Fairfield, Freestone Co., Tx Children of BENJAMIN PRUIETT and LECKIE HANEY are: 1 LEVIA M.2 PRUIETT. 2 JAMES PRESTON PRUIETT, SR.. 3 LENOR PRUIETT, b. August 10, 1893, Freestone Co., Texas; d. 1971, Freestone Co., Texas. 4 JOHN ARCHIE PRUIETT, SR., b. May 03, 1899, Freestone Co., Texas; d. January 03, 1985, Dew, Freestone Co., Tx.. Both, Benjamin and Leckie, are buried in Fairfield Cemetary but the Fairfield Cemetary Association, "Roy Hill's secretary", doesnot have the original records on them only what is on their tombstone. Their tombstone only give their birth year and death and not the day and month. I have found her death certificate but cannot find his in Freestone, Limestone, or other counties around that area. Benjamin's granddaughter states he died on Nov. 15, 1949 but the state doesnot find the death certificate. The funeral home, Capps Memorial Chapel, states that their records only go back to Nov. 1950 so this was no help. I know that I cannot find his death because of the different spelling of Pruitt.
