Pat: I have William R. Howard, George G. Gentry, Marian J. Lowery and John Wesley Lowry (father to Marian) all resided in Limestone County around 1850's. Which Simmons are you researching? Mine is William Edward Simmons wife Lucreatia Dunn, married in AL, but believe both were from GA. May have lived in Cherokee County, Texas, had 2 sons and 10 daughters. The Ayres and Dunn families was also connected with the Simmons family. Some lived in Henderson County, Texas. Does any of these names familiar to you? Later, Doris Gist
Doris The Dunn name is all over this area. There was a big Dunn family in early TX that had a fort in I think Milam Dist. that joined the south west corner of Robertson Colony. I have my Joseph Ferguson voting at Dunn's Fort in 1836 he was one of the ones that could not settle in Robertson Colony yet so he was in Washington Co. TX. for several yrs. till they were allowed to move into the area that became Limestone Co. I have a copy of a deed that was in Robertson Co. in 1836. Anyway there is lots of info around on this Dunn family. I have a William Green Howard married to Louisa Jane Choate b 1856. I have Wilmoth Jane Sharp or Sparks married a Unknown Gentry then a Hyden. I have a Sarah Gentry who married one of the Bates family. No Lowery & no Simmons that was someone else on the list asking about a Simmons family. I do know that in the 1920 or 30s there was a Luther Simmons in Limestone Co. because I have heard my Aunt talk about this family. In fact I think one of his dau. may have just died in the last 6 mo. Pat Oates in TX. At 12:01 PM 4/2/2001 -0500, you wrote: >Pat: > >I have William R. Howard, George G. Gentry, Marian J.
