Hi Dev Cook and All, In reference to Dev Cook's message of November 10th: > I am looking for the parents of Edward COOK and brother >Augustus COOK and sister Aurena Jane COOK UZZELL who came to >Limestone Co prior to the 1870 Census. Their mother Elizabeth had >remarried a man named George W. FISHER and was also living in >Limestone Co in 1870. > >From old land deed records it appears their father was another Edward >COOK and was in Dallas County as early as 1847 when a letter patent was > transferred to him by a William PORTER. > >In 1860 Elizabeth and these children are found with George FISHER in Ft. > Belknap, Young Co., TX. She is a widow in 1870 with these children from >her marriage to George FISHER: Viola, age 15, Belle age 12, and Ella age >9. (all born in TX) Elizabeth states in 1860 and 1870 that she was born in >IL. Augustus and Aurena 1860 census states that they were born in IL, >but in 1870 both state TX. Dev, can you (or anyone else on the list) give me ANY further information on these Cook folks -- Edward, Augustus and Aurena Jane Uzzell? Their ages? (Was THIS Augustus Cook the one who was first county surveyor of Robertson County in the 1830s?) Any connection to Wilds K. Cook? Source of the name Uzzell? Any marriage for Aurena Jane? I'm still hunting for information on my 2nd great grandparents Thomas Garrard and Jane Wilds _____. Thomas Garrard was in Springfield, Limestone Co. at the 1850 census. Thomas had married by 1860 and is in Coryell Co. with wife Jane and Child Elizabeth. They both died in the fever epidemic of 1873 leaving about three children -- John, Sophronia (Dora) m. McCain in Ellis Co.and Jessie m. Campbell in Robertson County. I have found the following cemetery recording Robertson Co.: "Mount Vernon Cemetery Calvert/Owensville: GARARD, J. WILDS, h Thomas Garard." Regards, Karen Trouvat
