Sorry, scratch Brown from that list - it has a volunteer. Gina
Okay, I have TWO lists now. This is the list of files that still need to be typed and I will shortly send a list of the ones that have been scanned and need to be checked for accuracy. Sometimes scanners just can't quite get the hang of it. I have gotten too far behind working on some of the larger ones. I'm sorry I was off-line yesterday, I am trying to get moved back onto my computer that broke in October! Linda has a reasonable and valid question. When this started about two weeks ago, Gina or someone spoke up that she would keep a list of who was transcribing what cemetery in order to keep the list organized and she asked people to send in to the list what cemetery they were doing. I remember Linda sent in Kosse (that's close to my hometown). If anyone does census lookups in Texas, they will recognize Linda as one of two or three volunteers who keep the census lookups moving. She does this on a daily basis, all for the goal of helping researchers in Texas move forward with their research. Linda is obviously trying to avoid duplications and transcribing cemeteries that haven't been spoken for, in order to help the process and to get the information out to the researchers. This is for Gina. Gina, can you possibly answer my question about whether to proceed with Kosse or not. I guarantee you I am not wasting any more time than I already have if David is going to post a more up-to-date Kosse than I have spent my precious time typing. However, he has twice now not answered the question I asked, so if you can, I would certainly appreciate it. Linda ----- Original Message ----- From: "David W. This is for Gina Gina Can you send us a new list of the cemetaries that have not been yet done to TXT Files I will wait till i hear from you on this to do another cemetary I am going out of town tomorrow and will be back on Sat evening and will try and do some on Sunday if there is some yet to do. When this was started, we didn't know that Bruce was going to donate his cemeteries. I much prefer Bruce's transcriptions, which are recent, to the cemeteries that were done in 1988. There was no need for anybody to get bent out of shape. David On Thu, 1 Apr 2004, svanwyk wrote: > Linda has a reasonable and valid question. I don't know who Ralph is, but we will post it anyway. We will post cemeteries from anybody that sends one in. I am sure Mexia and Thornton will still be waiting, maybe Horn Hill too. Accepting donations from anybody doesn't answer my question. Are you going to be posting a Kosse transcription from Ralph (already done and ready to go) on the Limestone list? If you are, it's rather fruitless for me waste more time proof reading what I've already typed. Or, if Ralph's isn't already typed, can it be incorporated into the posting that I will happily finish and forward to Gina. She had given us a list of what needed doing, and Kosse was one of them. David - don't guess I understand. I just finished transcribing 30 pages of Kosse Cemetery from Harvey's pdf files and am proof reading it now. Do you mean it will not be used and you will be posting a transcription from Bruce on the Limestone Cemetery site? Please let me know ASAP. Gina, They are jpeg files smaller than 110 kb. They are already compressed. How do I send 10 at a time? Rondina
If you can get them ready, I will compress them and put them on the site. Send them to me just 2 or 3 at a time if you can't get them smaller than 100k, otherwise my email will bog down and I won't get them. You may be storing them as tifs or bmps which are the best quality pictures, but they are huge in file size. Your camera software should be able to convert them to jpgs once you have them on your PC by doing a "Save AS" and change the extension to jpg. My eternal gratitude to Bruce Jordan for donating the cemeteries he has walked recently, most of them in the past year. These are more up-to-date than what Harvey had. Some of them are Armour, east and west Billington Capps Coolidge City Cemetery Cox Delia Eaton Honest Ridge Hughes-Hyden King Kirk Kosse Mt. Calm Old Union Phifer I don't have them all up yet, you can see them all at http://www.interment.net, but I am working on them. Thanks, Bruce! David W. David, How do you get a picture down to 100kbs? I can't come close to that on the lowest camera setting. Also the link you sent didn't work. It was: http://www.rootsweb.com/~txlimest/cemetery/tombstones/ Rondina

We could put them in http://www.rootsweb.com/~txlimest/cemetery/tombstones/ Keep in mind that the scans should not be huge, as folks on slow connections will give up trying to download them. something under 100 kb would help. Gina and David, Do you want to post tombstone pictures on this site? Do you have a preference as to how you want the cemetery index to read? Particularly as to how to indicate a man and wife are sharing a common marker. The dates will read as DD MMM YYYY. I think the photography will be finished on Saturday, then it's just a matter of processing the information into the index. IF YOU HAVE a site that has the look you want please post the URL in a response. Thank you. Rondina
