Hi Jimmy Glad to see you are still researching. I have had computer, modem, phone line problems since early last fall. Hope it is all fixed now. I also have a new email address the SPAM is so bad on my < pattiann@eramp.net> that I hate to even clean it out these days. I am still working some on my Limestone Co data base. Have not worked as much as I did several yrs ago but still digging as I have time. I worked on the Smart/Sanders/Rainer/White families for the last few weeks. We need to get this list going again. GARY D. WILLIAMS, P.E., 64 years of age, went to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, August 27, 2004 following a courageous battle with cancer. Gary was born on February 14, 1940 to Mary and J. T. Williams, Jr. in Mexia, Texas. He spent his childhood in Dallas and graduated from South Oak Cliff High School. Gary obtained his Bachelor of Science in civil engineering in 1963 from Texas A & M University. He proudly wore his Aggie ring and supported Texas A & M University in many ways. Gary served as a U. S. Army officer for two years including a tour of duty in Thailand. Upon his discharge, he returned to Texas and began working for H. B. Zachry Company where he was mentored in the construction business by one of his heroes, H. B. "Pat" Zachry. In 1979, Gary fulfilled a dream by starting his own general contracting company, Williams Industries, Inc. He was a long-time member of the Associated General Contractors. Always a builder, he built both buildings and relationships with others over his amazing life. He truly was a builder of men. He was an active member of Second Baptist Church where he humbly and proudly served as a deacon. Gary was able to serve his Lord in many ways through the years and he was particularly honored to be part of the mission to build churches in Recife, Brazil. He also served on the boards of both the Cerebral Palsy Foundation and the West Houston Hospital. Jesus Christ was reflected in everything he did. Everyone who met him came away blessed by his humbleness, dignity and fairness. He was a father-figure to many, a close friend to all, the ultimate role model. Gary is preceded in death by his father, J. T. Williams, Jr.; sister Margie Williams; nieces Denise Williams and Robin Williams; and his father-in-law J.C. "Pete" Spann. He is survived by his dearly loved wife, Gwen Spann Williams with whom he was proud to have shared his life. This special union was reflected in their personal motto, "Together Always." Gary is survived by his son Mark and wife Amy Williams of Amarillo, daughter Tammy and husband Mike Walker of Katy, son Matt and wife Gina Williams of Katy; nephew Jason and wife Janet Spann of Houston. Gary was blessed to help raise Jason; Felipe Nogueira of Houston, who joined the family as an exchange student from Brazil. Gary also leaves the pride of his life, his grandchildren, whom he told that together, they would be "friends forever": Sarah Williams, Kyle, Will and Kay Kay Brock, Nathan and Jacob Spann, and Seth Williams. Gary is also survived by his mother, Mary Williams and brothers Marcus and wife Juanda Williams of San Antonio, Stanley and wife Diane Williams of Houston, Mike Williams of Houston, his mother-in-law Evelyn Spann of Midlothian, brother-in-law Bob and wife Rhonda Spann of Midlothian and also leaves behind many beloved nephews, nieces, other family members and numerous friends. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Second Baptist Church Missions or the American Cancer Society, P. O. Box 570127, Houston, Texas 77257. The family thanks all the friends and family who have given so much throughout Gary's illness. We couldn't have done this without your love and support. Thank you also to Houston Hospice and all the doctors and nurses who so lovingly cared for him; and to Dr. H. Alejandro Preti and his staff for their special care. Friends are invited to visitation with the family from five until eight o'clock in the evening on Monday, August 30, 2004 in the Library at Geo. H. Lewis & Sons, 1010 Bering Drive. Following a private graveside service a Memorial services will be conducted at half past two in the afternoon Tuesday, August 31, 2004 in the Sanctuary at Second Baptist Church, 6400 Woodway, with Dr. Ed Young and Dr. James DeLoach officiating. To all who have responded to my query: I apologize for not making myself clear in the first e-mail. I think the Limestone County census taker for Precincts 1, 2, and 3 in 1850 might have confused the order of the pages in his book ( pages 359, dwelling & family no. 46 through page 364, dwelling & family no. 143). Maybe he turned two pages by mistake and flipped back to complete the blank pages after he recognized his error. The way they are listed, the families don't line up as well as they would if taken in a different order. Am I the only one who has noticed this? Maybe I am dreaming, but I don't think so. In these pages, it seems like there are more likely family continuances present than the census says. For example, Page 361-B ends with the family of Emanuell Clements: Dwelling & Family No. 96 39. Emanuell Clements w/m 36 yrs Farmer $600 KY 40. Martha Clements w/f 34 yrs TN 41. Benjamin Clements w/m 13 yrs MS 42. William Clements w/m 11 yrs TX The family continues at the very top of Page 360: Page 360 1. M.J. Clements w/m 9 yrs TX 2. James Clements w/m 7 yrs TX 3. Emanuell Clements w/m 5 yrs TX 4. Margaret Clements w/f 3 yrs TX 5. Joseph H. Clements w/m 7/12 TX 6. William Clements w/m 27 yrs KY Another example is that Page 364 ends with the family of Joseph B. Hardin: Dwelling & Family No. 136 37. Joseph B. Hardin w/m 46 yrs Tavern Keeper $2,000 TN 38. An Hardin w/f 40 yrs MO 39. Mara L. Criswell w/f 19 yrs LA 40. Martha B. Hardin w/f 18 yrs AR 41. Margaret H. Hardin w/f 15 yrs MS 42. Nancy G. Hardin w/f 9 yrs TX and seems to pick up again at the top of page 362-B: Page 362-B 1. Ann A. Hardin w/f 6 yrs TX From these examples, page 360 should follow page 361-B, and page 362-B should follow page 364. The way I see it, the census would read a lot better if the pages were arranged as follows: AS RECORDED: SHOULD BE: PAGE 359 Teague/Jessop PAGE 359 Teague/Jessop PAGE 359-B Jessop/Campbell PAGE 359-B Jessop/Campbell PAGE 360 Clements/Burnett PAGE 360-B Longbotton/Powell PAGE 360-B Longbotton/Powell PAGE 361 Powell/Self PAGE 361 Powell/Self PAGE 361-B Dunn/Clements PAGE 361-B Dunn/Clements PAGE 360 Clements/Burnett PAGE 362 Bateey/Colb PAGE 362 Bateey/Colb PAGE 362-B Hardin/Self PAGE 364 Ridlin/Hardin PAGE 363 Foster/Nix PAGE 362-B Hardin/Self PAGE 363-B Downs/Self PAGE 363 Foster/Nix PAGE 364 Ridlin/Hardin PAGE 363-B Downs/Self PAGE 364-B Barnett/Henson PAGE 364-B Barnett/Henson Am I off in left field?
