Physically, it was located on what is now Lakeland Drive between University Medical Center and St. Dominics Hospital, and there is a large cemetery of unmarked graves there because patients died and were buried on the grounds in paupers graves. I was going through the 1930 Federal Census tonight looking for some records, and realized that from page 7 through page 55 of the Hinds County 1930 records are all the names of patients at the asylum. Hundreds of them. They are recorded by name, age, race, sex, where they were born, and where their parents were born, and listed as patients with no occupation. Olivia Ferguson was the census taker. They were in the 13th census district of Hinds County, Ward 7. The several lists are divided by sex and by race, which is probably the way they were housed at the facilities. So if you have somebody missing that you know was in that hospital at that point in time, check out the 1930 census. This is the first time I've seen patient information available for that hospital, ever. I thought all the records had been thrown away, because Archives didn't have them and neither does Whitfield, the current hospital in Rankin County. I need to go back now and check to see if all the children at the Baptist and Methodist orphanages were also censused. They were living at what was then the village of Liberty Grove, and what is now where the Jackson Zoo is located, next to Cedar Lawn Cemetery on West Capitol Street.     3. Hi, My first time contacting you. I am a dummy on this computer but was thrilled at what I saw on your line. Would love any info. down or back, on the Permrlia Smith lines, Thomas, etc. My grandmother was Mary Jane Holloway in the 1860 LC census with Per. Smith.. I don't know her parents' names but she was orphaned when small and her grandmother, Permelia Smith raised her. She married Riley McDonald and they lived in Comanchi Co. when she died, late 1880s or early 90s. Does anyone have any info on a Holloway that might fit my line? Thank you again. Ione Wright

    3. Peter KETCHUM's son C.V. Ketchum said that he came to Limestone County, TX with his parents (plural), and then to Caldwell County, TX. If this is correct than Peter's wife (maybe Ann Burrell?) died in Limestone or Caldwell, between 1848 and 1852. Peter Ketchum's father was Edward Ketchum who was married to Mary Reasor in Virginia circa 1795. Jeff HINES came to TX from TN after 1886. Died in Johnson Co., TX 1939.     3. As far as I know the families our line is connected with were in and around Tehuacana, Limestone Co, TX. I don't know much else about them other than names and maybe some dates. I do have one contact regarding the Hall part, I think. Wanda Watkins

    3. My question was a long shot. I do not recognize any of the names you mentioned. T J Storther was my grandmother's first husband. My father came from her third marriage to a William Karr. In between she was married to a man named Smith and apparently they divorced. I have not been able to find out anything on these first two marriages, except the date I mentioned in Kaufman County. Sorry I cannot be of any help to you.
