Hi Pat, The Prichard was the right line. Got e-mail this afternoon on Violet's sister Opal being buried in same cemetery. Whew. So happy about that. Thanks for everyone's help. My friend is so happy about all this. You all have been a God send. Later Gracie in Okla.

Mike I have contacted the person I gave the obit to & asked her for a copy when she finds it. Will get back to you if she ever finds it. Have you tried working the people living around your Benjamin Franklin Pruitt? I have had good luck working on the families living around the people I am searching for. No man was an island back in those days. There always appear to be some family or old neighbors around them. I have proven this time again with many different families. I always work on the families living around someone I am having a problem with. Hard to believe you can not find a death cert. as late as 1949 so I am with you on the spelling of the name. It is either that or he went to live with one of his kids in some place you have not looked. Also could he have died in a hospital in a much larger place like Dallas or Houston? Have you checked Navarro Co for a death cert. they had a pretty large hospital in that county that lots of families used. I see the Hayne/Haney name all the time but have not worked on it at all. There is a bunch of Reed families on the east side of Limestone Co that is very near the Freestone Co line. Could Kessaih Reed have come from Limestone Co. ? I will check my Reed bunch & see what I have. Pat Oates in TX At 09:29 AM 1/31/2005 -0500, you wrote: >Yes Pat. I collect old Obits on all my ancestors. Yes Pat. I collect old Obits on all my ancestors. I have collected some 100 to 125 on my ancestors and sometimes they will reveal much needed info...I will certainly take any obits on the Whitman family or any other Pruitt family....At this time I am working on the Benjamin Franklin Pruitt side. I am trying to prove or disprove that the following Benjamin F. Pruitt is my line or not: BENJAMIN FRANKLIN PRUIETT was born 1867, and died 1949. He married LECKIE HANEY, daughter of HIRAM HANEY and KESSAIH REED. She was born Aug. 13, 1872 and died June 30, 1945 in Fairfield, Freestone Co., Tx Children of BENJAMIN PRUIETT and LECKIE HANEY are: 1 LEVIA M.2 PRUIETT. 2 JAMES PRESTON PRUIETT, SR.. 3 LENOR PRUIETT, b. August 10, 1893, Freestone Co., Texas; d. 1971, Freestone Co., Texas. 4 JOHN ARCHIE PRUIETT, SR., b. May 03, 1899, Freestone Co., Texas; d. January 03, 1985, Dew, Freestone Co., Tx.. Both, Benjamin and Leckie, are buried in Fairfield Cemetary but the Fairfield Cemetary Association, "Roy Hill's secretary", doesnot have the original records on them only what is on their tombstone. Their tombstone only give their birth year and death and not the day and month. I have found her death certificate but cannot find his in Freestone, Limestone, or other counties around that area. Benjamin's granddaughter states he died on Nov. 15, 1949 but the state doesnot find the death certificate. The funeral home, Capps Memorial Chapel, states that their records only go back to Nov. 1950 so this was no help. I know that I cannot find his death because of the different spelling of Pruitt. Mike Pruitt
Pat, I know about the spellings, my grandmother's maiden name was Golliher/Gollihar/ Gallaher/Gallihar/Gallagher/Gallahar/Galligher. Boy, do I know. That one drives me crazy and I cannot find her parents. grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr. Now that I am done being silly, I cannot find a Violet Louise Pritchard. The daughter of James Prichard was the only one. And can't find her in the SSDI by Pritchard either. We may have the correct one after all. I think I shall sleep on that one for now. I have had more luck with Harry Luckemeyer anyway. Thank you for all your help. Will let you know what I find out. I just wrote Gracie the below email about the Evan Douthit living beside David Faulkenberry in IL. Well after I sent this email I was just wondering around the RootsWeb TX counties & stopped & started reading Anderson Co TX cemeteries. In the Douthit Cem in Anderson Co TX I found Evan Douthit b: 15 Dec 1769 d: 1849 & who I think may be his wife a Sarah b:1774 On the stone of Evan Douthit it lists John Douthit Jr as his father. Feel sure this is the same Evan Douthit I found in the 1830 IL census . What a strange find after just taking about this man. Also Christopher C Chaffin & wife are buried there he is son of Eli Chaffin families also from IL. Pat Oates in TX >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> Gracie If this is all correct Sarah Elmaline Bates was born 2 Jan 1851 in Limestone Co TX d: 22 Mar 1884 is buried @ Ft Parker Cem in Limestone Co. she is the dau Silas Huron Bates b 26 May 1814 OH d:17 Aug 1888 buried also at Ft Parker Cem. mother is Eleanor Adaline "Ellen" Faulkenberry dau of David Faulkenberry who is in the 1830 Shelby Co IL census listed as David Faulkinberg/Faulkinbery. This whole group are another bunch of families connected to the IL group of families who came to TX at or about the same time as the Parkers. They are the ancestors of the Limestone Co Hydens or at least most of them. What I really need to know is if Harriet Mahala Daugherty is the dau. of Elizabeth Anglin & Nicholas Daugherty. Elizabeth Anglin Daugherty is a sister to the Lydia Anglin Hyden in your email below. I feel sure Harriet Mahal Daugherty is their dau but can not find anything to prove it. Maybe if I can find her marriage record it will show her father's name. Her naming pattern for her kids is no help at all they really do not fit either side of the family. Can anyone tell me if Nicholas W Daugherty married to Elizabeth Anglin are the parents of Harriet Mahala Daugherty b: 1819 IN married David Bates?? She would sure fit age wise into this family & birth location is perfect for where Nicholas Daugherty was when she was born. Anyone have any ideas on this? Pat Oates in TX
That was not George Prichard's wife's name in 1900 it is what I think is his 3rd wife & I can not read her name either. I have not checked marriage records in the courthouse to see if it is there or what her name is. I am carrying George Prichard as the son of William Prichard b abt 1812 SC d: bef 1880 but I do not have any solid proof of this it needs more work. William Prichard's dau Joannah Virginia married into the Bates family they did not marry bro & sister but is the same big Bates family from IL. This is another one of the families that married in Coles Co IL Pat Oates in TX At 04:43 PM 1/30/2005 -0600, you wrote: >Pat > Thank you very much. That gives us one more generation.
