Hi Pat, I would love a marriage lookup if you can. Believe my gg-grandfather, Gabriel Styles Springfield married Martha J. Rogers in Limestone County 1849 - 1851. Anything you have on any Springfield would be a huge help. Is anyone researching the Overhiser name in Limestone County. My ggrandfather married a widow named Mary Overhiser in 1884 in Limestone County. Mary is buried in Faulkenberry Cemetery next to her first husband Sam Overhiser. What I need to know is"Where is William C. Hart buried?" He died in 1908. Also, what happened to some of his children? Thanks, B.J.
Patricia please excuse you me if I already asked this question or anyone knowing this line, but do these Phiefers have a Henry in them? Mika Sorry but the marriage records for Limestone Co. burned in 1873. The only way this may show up is from another line connected that has info. I have gotten a few marriage dates out of pension applications & things that came from other lines. The Rogers are scattered all over Limestone Co. & at this time I do not have good solid info. on many of them. I do have some in the data base but most are just married into other lines I have been working on. Sorry Pat Oates in TX. I am trying to find his father Samuel J Nichols he is on the Henderson co. census for 1860(Nicols) with G.W. Nichols. Helen Nichols WA's mother is on the Limestone co. 1880 census. She died in OK. in 1938 she remarried about 1890. I can find no record of death of Sam or him on the census of Limestone or Robertson co. Any help would be appreciated.

Charlie I do not have a Sawyer one in the data base. Did any of the children marry into other lines in Limestone Co. TX. I have lots of female given names with Unknown last names. Trena I have a little but not a lot because they drifted in & out of Limestone Co. I do know that one of the girls married a Rainer that was from Limestone Co. TX. I have a friend here in McLennan Co. that works a Whitman line & there are 2 George Whitmans that keep getting mixed up. My friend has found a lady here in McLennan Co. that is from this George Whitman line in Robertson Co & Limestone Co. I do know that in Robertson Co. there was a Josiah Meigs that was mixed up in all of this because of research my friend & I did in Robertson Co. together. If you would be interested in contacting this lady it will have to be by snail mail or phone she is not on line. Thanks for the info I will hold onto it and see what comes up. I don't recognize some of those names. But am grateful for your help. Thanks Shelby :-)
Pat, Do you have information concerning the Whitman family. That is my Whitman family you spoke of in your previous message. I visited there 3 weeks ago trying to find more information. Joseph and Margaret/Mary Whitman are my gggparents. I drove through Mexia, Kosse, Groesbeck, and went on to Bremond in Robertson Co. I found their tombstones, but still lack a lot of information. Do you know anything about the family? Trena > I do not have a McCaig in the data base but do have a Meigs this is a > reach but could the name have been changed some way? Thanks Pat. That line(Phifer) is of the son of Lansford Ayers who came to Koose c. 1881 with wife Elizabeth. They came the Miss- Delta region. Lansford was known as Col Ayers in Kosciusko, MS. He was a blacksmith and repaired wagon implements. He didn't serve in the Civil War but was a Mason and that is indicated on his headstone and that of his son Rodney Ayers. They also might have brought their slaves( already freed) with them to Kosse as both Cato and Ben Ayers were trained in the blacksmith trade. Elizabeth , Col's wife made it to TX, but we have been unable to locate her grave. Circa 1885, her initials appear was on a land deed. Which leads me to believe she made it to TX with Col. They might have traveled with other family on a wagon train. Col. Lansford Ayers is buried in Kosse and we have visited his grave, but ran out of time to do research. His daughter was a Miss Bettie Ayers Embry who taught at Chula Vista and Harmony schools near Kosse. I have been unable to locate any records on her as a teacher, but it is said she made an incredible impact on the children in the area. Another son was Rodney also buried in Kosse. This is where the Phifer's come in. Thanks for your time. I would most appreciate anything you could find. Col. died in 1888. Thanks again. I will forward this info onto the Phifer bunch. Shelby :-) Also the name Murff is of this line and Alton Ayers was another son of Col.
Like I told you at the start I do not know how good this info. is but I have John Byram & Jane Prudden Ayres as the parents of this Sarah Louise, Joseph Prudden, & Alfred A Ayres. This must be a different line of the Ayres family. John Byram Ayres parents are a Silas & Mary Bynam or Byram Ayres. Someone on that was on the net sent me this & I can send you to her if her email is still good. She only sent the Ayres info. not the Phifer. This James Phifer I am showing as the bro. to Forest Phifer my Husbands 2nd GGrandfather. Pat Oates At 12:32 PM 3/31/2001 -0500, you wrote: >Thanks Pat. Dear Pat, I have the Ayers line in Kosse TX. But due to poorly kept furneral records and death records and newspaper records, I am at a loss even where to look anymore. The 1890 census would be nice, but that doesn't show much either and I am told the Masonic records were lost in a fire. So I remain lost in TX :-( Shelby
I have watched your posts trying to find your Ayres family. I have another line that married into an Ayres family & at this time have not been able to connect her to a family yet. I will keep working on this & if I can connect anything together to get a solid Aryes family to start with I will post it here so you can see if it is any of yours. I do have a Sarah Louise Ayres that married a James Curtis Phifer in 1842. They had James Henry, William R, Joseph B, Sarah Louise. I also know that some of this Phifer family <other lines of Phifer> were in the Kosse area. I do have a little more on this line if it is yours. Pat Oates in TX. I do not have a McCaig in the data base but do have a Meigs this is a reach but could the name have been changed some way? There was a pretty good number of the Meigs family in Robertson Co. Pat & other Listers, I am still researching many families who lived in Limestone county. Some are Owen(s), Lummus, Favors, Coldine and many others. if anyone has any of these names in their family lines anywhere, please contact me. My Owen(s) lived there from about 1854-1877 when my ggrandmother Zillah Crawford Owen(s) died and the farm estate was settled. I am sure many are buried in Limestone county but I have not found where. The children went to school there, James Jeff, John Franklin, Robert Dale, Mary Jane, Sarah, William D. ( Bill), Turner Wilson ( later changed to Pinckney Winfield), and Texana Owen(s). I think they lived around Personville, however not sure. There was also a Sterling Owen(s) and son Eli who lived in Limestone county. Wanda
