Candy Yes I have some <very little> on the Rutherfords I am having a hard time putting a good solid family together on this family to work off of so most of what I have are just married into other lines. One of my Fergusons married a Frazier. The Hancock I have also came from other lines I have not even started putting the Hancock family together. Most of what I have done started in the south east end of Limestone Co. & I worked my way out. I try not to add to many families that just hang out there in the data base without some connection to a big family I work because I lose them sometimes then find myself putting people in the data base that are already there. The nick names are driving me crazy but I will always add the nick name because some will not even know who you are talking about with the correct name Limestone Co. is my HOME & I can not believe the connections between people that I have known all my life & never guessed they were related to other people I had known. It is very time consuming but I am having so much fun. I can open any book or go the courthouse & always find something interesting now. No more of the search & search & find nothing the way it gets after you have worked your own lines to death. Pat Oates in TX. Joan I have some of the information on some of these lines. I will look & see can you tell me which leg of the Anthony Sharp line you came from? I am working on the Bennetts & Anglins lots of confusion on these lines. I have a lot of Bates info. some Wilkinson, Capps, & the Wilsons well that is another story. I do have Wilson info but there were several Wilson families in Limestone Co. & I have not found a connection between them but that does not mean they were not related before they made it to Limestone Co. TX. I remember Miss Stella but she did not teach me she taught my parents. Pat Oates in TX. Just got this note form Pattiann Oates: >>>Joan Will you send a note to the list & at least tell them that I have not just dropped this. I can not get mail through to the Limestone Co. list today it keeps coming back to me. Texas Internet Service out of Waco has turned into junk. I have been with this service since the very early 1990s & it has sold 3 times & this time was a wreck. Thank you Pat Oates<<<
I recently posted a message about a school picture that I had of the class at Personville School. I found out today that the picture was probably taken around 1937 instead of 1932-1935. The principal in the photo was a Mr. Holmes. My dad told me a story about him today. Anyone interested let me know at [email protected] Cindy
Pat: My William C. Hart Was born in Virginia in 1844 and married Margaret J. Carroll in Tennessee in about 1867. They moved to Limestone County before 1880 for I have found them in the 1880 Census in Kossee. Margaret died in 1884 and is buried in an unmarked grave in Tidwell Cem. He then married a widow named Mary Overhiser. Mary died in 1907 and is buried in Faulkenberry as Mary Overhiser. William died in 1908 according to a family Bible but no burial place is recorded. Also there are several children that I lost after this marriage. I thought if someone was working on Overhiser genealogy that they might shed some light on the family between 1884 and 1908. Also on the burial place of William. Thanks for your help. B. J.

Hi, I am trying to find further information on the family of Lula (Leila) WEBB and John B. KIRKPATRICK. Lula was the daughter of Andrew J. WEBB and Permelia Ann PIERCE (Permelia was possibly married before to William TOMPKINS) Lula and John were married 8 Aug 1898 in McLennan Co. The 1900 census lists the family in the Prairie Hill & Mt. Antioch Voting Precinct; the 1910 Limestone County census has the family living in Justice Precinct No. 2 of Limestone County The 1920 census has Lula KIRKPATRICK living in Justice Precinct 2 in Limestone County with daughters Nora 16, Dora 16, Maud 11, Ruby 9, Gladis 4, Mildred 2, and son J. W. 7. Lula is 37; she states she is divorced. The 1920 census has John B. KIRKPATRICK living in Precinct 8 of Falls Co. with sons James A 20, and John H. 13. Is there anyone out there who can fill me in on what happened to Lula and the children after 1920? Did Justice Precinct 2 of Limestone Co. take in the area near Prairie Hill or Delia Thanks, Mary Carolyn BROWN PINCEK
Pat, Bet you won't say anything about how quite the email is anymore! I know that you are researching the Simmons surname so was wondering if you had run across any Rutherfords. My Evie Simmons {daughter of Fannie and Andrew Hendon Simmons} married Thee Rutherford {Son of Joseph and Mary Margaret Thompson}. I have a lot on the Simmons but would like to fine something on Thee's sisters. He was the only son. Some surnames of these sisters are: Woodworth, Hancock, Jett, Jennings, and Frazer. Thanks for any help. Candy Addison Love from Lubbock
I subscribe to the digest, and I was ready this morning to find out how to re-subscribe, thinking I had been dumped, when No. 11 came through with a whole bunch of messages. Glad to see the list come alive again. Now, Pat. what do you have on the SHARP line? Two brothers (Anthony and Spencer) and maybe a third (James) came to Limestone in the 1850's. They had quite a few descendants among them, although the line suffered a lot in the civil War -- at least six to seven sons killed or died in prison camp. Early members married into the ANGLIN, BENNETT, BATES and other families. Later descendants married into the WILKINSON, BROKAW, CAPPS, BURTON, WILSON and other families. (My mother grew up in the Big Hill community where many of theWilkinsons are buried today. More Sharps are buried in Faulkenberry and Fort Parker cemeteries. Many who grew up in Limestone will remember my Aunt Stella Wilkinson who taught school in Groesbeck (30's, 40's and 50's) and was superintendent of Sunday school at the Baptist church for many many years.) I have quite a bit of information in my database which I would happily share with you. It is quite possible you may have some stuff I do not have. love joan
