It is entirely possible that J. D. could be E D. People that compile these lists are only human and the handwriting is very difficult to read in many instances. Often they are simply making educated guesses. But, I, for one, an very thankful for all their hard work. Good luck to you. Hope this provides a little help. 3. Well thanks Pat Oates, no - this doesn't help. My Hardy Jones and his wife Martha Blackburn were in Mount Calm, Limestone County back in the 1850-1880s. As I mentioned, hardy was the first postmaster back before the War between the States and his son, William Lewis Jones, was the fourth postmaster. I believe he used to run the post between Mount Calm and Shreveport. The father of Martha Caroline Blackburn was William Blackburn, mother was Sarah Fly. Sarah is buried in Mount Calm cemetery but I don't know about William, who I think may have been a preacher. John D. Sparks probably is not related to Polly Ann Levina Sparks or to any of her siblings. Many of Polly Ann's siblings died around 1882-3. Was there an epidemic of something in Limestone Co. at that time? Maybe cholera or yellow fever? Thanks again - - Ron Jones in southern California

    3. Doris The Dunn name is all over this area. There was a big Dunn family in early TX that had a fort in I think Milam Dist. that joined the south west corner of Robertson Colony. I have my Joseph Ferguson voting at Dunn's Fort in 1836 he was one of the ones that could not settle in Robertson Colony yet so he was in Washington Co. TX. for several yrs. till they were allowed to move into the area that became Limestone Co. I have a copy of a deed that was in Robertson Co. in 1836. Anyway there is lots of info around on this Dunn family. I have a William Green Howard married to Louisa Jane Choate b 1856. I have Wilmoth Jane Sharp or Sparks married a Unknown Gentry then a Hyden. I have a Sarah Gentry who married one of the Bates family. No Lowery & no Simmons that was someone else on the list asking about a Simmons family. I do know that in the 1920 or 30s there was a Luther Simmons in Limestone Co. because I have heard my Aunt talk about this family. In fact I think one of his dau. may have just died in the last 6 mo. 3. Hoping someday to find the marriage record of my grandparents - Hugh McLaurin Smith and Laura Katherine Bell (sometimes spelled Catherine), married September 4, 1887. As written in her father's journal, Laura and Hugh were married "at home" on the farm "..beautifully situated three miles north from the town of Tehuacana on the Tehuacana and Corsicana road..." (So described in the sale poster, 1904.) Her father was Dr. Charles M. Bell who moved from Alto to the farm near Tehuacana in 1863 with his wife, Mary Catherine (Sickenberger) and baby son, Theodore Everitt Bell. Laura and her other siblings were all born at the farm between 1864 and 1880 (Florence Ida Bell Kirk, Jonas Prescott, Laura Katherine Bell Smith, Fidelia Bell Needham, Blanche Rose Bell Eastwood, Edward Hinman, and Clara/Clarissa Bell Ingram). Mary Catherine Bell is buried in Tehuacana Cemetery; Dr. Bell's resting place remains a mystery. He did remarry after Mary Catherine's death in 1885, but he neglected to mention the dear woman's name... and so far, I've not been able to identify her.
