Is anyone aware of a survey of the Burtrill-Cherry Cemetery located on private land in Limestone County Texas? It is not listed in County Cemetery Books.
I not real sure what is being talked about. Could someone clarify this for me. I do not want to lose my files nor do I want my internet contact to lose theirs. This is my last virus message on this list and once again, i am going to repeat it since some people believe I am a moron. I OPENED THE EMAIL BECAUSE IT WAS FROM MY BEST FRIEND AND IT WAS HER RESUME SHE DIDN:T SEND IT AND WAS LOOKIN FOR A NEW JOB. I have 3 virus scanners installed and not one of them caught it. The attachment doesn't have an exe attachment, it attaches to one of your personal folders......in this case her resume. This virus is undetectable and has shut down news stations, our local news station shut down for 2 days. CNN has mentioned it.....The only moronic thing I did was email the rootsweb lists, because the person told me to and I didn't realize rootsweb was so good about keeping virus' off the mailing lists. I should have never said anything because this has turned into a big drama, can we please end it. I already feel bad enough..........thanks.............Lisa Back to geneology anybody researching Beaty/Batey's from Limestone? thanks Lisa ----- Original Message ----- From: "Gina Heffernan" <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Thursday, July 26, 2001 3:34 PM Subject: Re: [TXLIMEST] virus please ready!!!!!!!!!! > At 04:22 PM 7/25/01, you wrote: > >hi all of you are infected with a virus.....it's a virus that thousands of people have and are getting, and it also brings back the snow white virus......why these people make virus' is mind boggling........anyway, I thought I would tell you how to rid of it. I know this one has hit those of us at GenWeb and RootsWeb pretty hard since we are used to receiving files from contributors on a daily basis. We have had two posts here about what the virus is and where to find info about it, so I don't think we need to go farther with it. You can find the information in the Archives if you need it. http://searches2.rootsweb.com/cgi-bin/listsearch.pl?list=TXLIMEST-L Gina Heffernan County Coordinator Limestone County, Texas http://www.rootsweb.com/~txlimest/ County File Manager http://www.rootsweb.com/~usgenweb/tx/limestone/limetoc.htm Mail List Administrator Send a blank email with subscribe in the subject line to [email protected]
Gina... Remember, you can't get a virus without opening attachments so you can't get one here. Only if someone from here puts your address into their address book and it sends a e-mail directly from her. I don't think we are suppose to post about virus's here (unsure about that) but since it has been discussed already, I am going to send a description of the virus and what you watch for on an attachment. That way you will know what to look for. And if in doubt whether you have one on your computer and it is sending out... check your "sent" box and see if there has been a mailing to everyone in your address book. Billie ------------------------------- [email protected] This worm arrives as an email message with the following content: Subject: The subject of the email will be random, and will be the same as the file name of the email attachment. Attachment: The attachment is a file taken from the sender's computer and will have the extension .bat, .com, .lnk or .pif added to it. Message: The message body will be semi-random, but will always contain one of the following two lines (either English or Spanish) as the first and last sentences of the message. Spanish Version: First line: Hola como estas ? Last line: Nos vemos pronto, gracias. English Version: First line: Hi! How are you? Last line: See you later. Thanks Between these two sentences, some of the following text may appear: Spanish Version: Te mando este archivo para que me des tu punto de vista Espero me puedas ayudar con el archivo que te mando Espero te guste este archivo que te mando Este es el archivo con la informaci=n que me pediste English Version: I send you this file in order to have your advice I hope you can help me with this file that I send I hope you like the file that I sendo you This is the file with the information that you ask for -----Original Message----- From: Gina Heffernan <[email protected]> To: [email protected] <[email protected]> Date: Thursday, July 26, 2001 3:26 PM Subject: Re: [TXLIMEST] virus please ready!!!!!!!!!! >At 04:22 PM 7/25/01, you wrote: >>hi all of you are infected with a virus.....it's a virus that thousands of people have and are getting, and it also brings back the snow white virus......why these people make virus' is mind boggling........anyway, I thought I would tell you how to rid of it. My apologizes for not sending my previous message to the list administrator. I have been kicked off a mailing list for my action, I just did what I was told to do and honestly would have contacted the list administrator first .......I am sorry for any inconvenience. I just wanted everyone to know rather to lose all of their hard work like I did. It won't happen again. Lisa
hi all of you are infected with a virus.....it's a virus that thousands of people have and are getting, and it also brings back the snow white virus......why these people make virus' is mind boggling........anyway, I thought I would tell you how to rid of it. You are in my address book and it has attached itself to your computer via my address book, I got it the same way, I was in someone's address book and gave it to me.........Your virus will not be detected with a virus scan.......here is how I got rid of it, and have included all instructions..........you must email your entire address book and forward this message so that people can clean this out before their computer crashes. I lost all data, most collected over a 5 year period 3 weeks ago and am still devestated over it. Thanks and sorry about the virus but I don't want it comming back to me again.......... Lisa ps there is no virus attached to this email I have gotten rid of it.......... here's what the the tech guy sent me, pretty detailed email......... Lisa, these are the e-mails from friends who also receive the SirCam Virus. There are a few tools you can use especially the Sircam Removal tool, but you still must check your autoexec.bat. The SARC Reference seems to work best. Lisa, 1. If you open the e-mail, it then attaches some file from your 'My Documents' and sends it to everyone in your address book and every contact that might be in your InBox (like forwards from other people). It then buries itself in your registry and hides itself and does the same thing over and over again everytime you start up an '.exe' file. http://www.symantec.com/avcenter/venc/data/[email protected] This is where I went to get rid of the virus, because I didn't have my viruschecker up to snuff 2. A new Windows E-Mail virus has been reported by members, arriving with the subject line named for the attached file (which contains the virus) and a body which usually consists of three lines. The first and last line are usually: Hi! How are you? and See you later. Thanks The middle line is usually one of the following: I send you this file in order to have your advice I hope you can help me with this file that I send I hope you like the file that I sendo you This is the file with the information that you ask for OR this text could arrive in Spanish. The attached file may appear to be almost any kind of file, but will have a hidden extensions that makes it a Windows Executable. This Virus will likely arrive from someone you know, because it mails itself to everyone in the Outlook address book of an infected computer. Please be extremely wary of all file attachments. The McAfeee Page for this Virus is http://www.mcafee.com/anti-virus/viruses/sircam/default.asp?cid=2360 3. Unfortunately you can't simply remove the virus by running the virus scan - you have to manually alter your autoexec.bat file and your registry, otherwise the worm stays in your machine. You can get full instructions on the Norton Antivirus site. (This step may also be necessary I hope this gives you the needed information. ........Larry
Pat, I am not sure of Sparks at Box Church connected to me unless it is Rebecca and John Sparks. John is William Sparks' brother. I know Rebecca lived in Falls co. and Thorton for a while and I believe she buried around Mexia somewhere. Rebecca
Rebecca I will keep your email because I am sure I will get off into the Sparks families since they connect to these other lines I am working & the name has come up several times. Have you checked Robertson Co. TX for you McCaig names? Maybe they had relatives in that area & moved down there. Pat Oates in TX. Hi Everyone! I am searching for any info on Edward McCAIG in Limestone County. His last offspring, Enoch Joseph, was born in 1892. In the 1900 Census, his wife Sara is listed as head of household with all the children at Thornton. So--- ggEdward died between 1892 and 1900. I cannot afford a search of all the years and I have checked all the cemetery listings at the Limestone GenWeb site. Also, gggJohn and ggggSamuel died and were buried somewhere in Limestone County. No info found for them either, other than Census records. Any suggestions? Barb McCaig Nannery
Hi List Does anyone on this list know anything about Abraham <Abram> Wilson found in the 1850s tax lists of Limestone Co. TX.? I have not picked him up on the census just the tax records & in a deed found in the courthouse in Limestone Co. I have the name of 2 of his children Alsey Wilson & Abraham Wilson who sold their part of Abraham Sr. land to another Wilson in Limestone Co. TX. Also if anyone on this list is interested in the Teel or Teal name it also ties to the Wilson families that I have been working on in the last few months. This Teel name is going all the way back to IL along with the Wilsons/Anglin/Bates/Doty/Parker families. They all belonged to the same Primitive Baptist religion in IL. This info was found on church records out of IL. Thanks Pat Oates in TX.

Rebecca Strange you mention Sparks I have just returned from Limestone Co. doing research for several days & you would not believe that several of the people I talked with mentioned the Sparks name. I have not done any research on that name & did not question them about it but finally did tell one that I must do some research on this line since several had mentioned this name in connection with Box Church area families. I will try to question these people more on the Sparks names if you would like. Pat Oates in TX. For those of you who may be new to the list, Harvey Cox is currently putting all the cemeteries in Limestone Co. on-line. He does not have them all completed yet, but he is working on them. He also now has a search engine which is terrific! http://www.mycroft.mexia.com/~hcox/index.html
Gina, I saw Sparks as one of your surnames and visited your site. My Sparks also go back to Thomas but mine goes through the "Williams" to M.J. who married James K. Polk Champion and are buried at Big Hill. Does anyone have a Limestone county cemetery book? I have been trying to find Sam/Samuel/S.J. Nichols. have been given clues(thanks Billie) but cannot connect him yet. He married Narcissus Helen Mitchell and had two children, William Arthur and Jessie(I just found out a little while back that Jessie was his child. Rebecca Mortimer

An Effie born 1890 in Benton Co, Arkansas who later moved to Navarro County. Effie had a brother named Alexander. Alexander's son - Robert Earl - moved to Navarro then to Limestone County. His daughter, Bobbie was born there before the family moved on to Brazoria County. There was another family - Matilda Tuck married Bascom Baldwin - Matilda is my Effie's cousin. It may be that your Effie is part of this bunch which came from Missouri to Arkansas then to Texas. It may be worth your while to check into those Baldwins. I'm not sure where Bascom came from, but I feel like they probably married in Benton County between 1875-1885. Good hunting and feel free to check out the database on my site.
