Limestone County lost much yesterday 11 Dec 2001 when Ray Walter died. Not only has the county lost something but I lost a good friend. Ray taught me so much about genealogy & the county I was born & raised in. This means there is almost no one left to ask the many questions we have. Not many had done serious Limestone Co. TX research & he had done this most of his life. In fact it was his life. I will let everyone know when the arrangements are made. Pat Oates in TX.

Births since 1950, marriages, divorces have all been taken off the search list "to protect privacy". Glad I got most of the information I needed in the past 12 months.
Debra I will check & see if I have anything on these Wilsons in the data base. The names look like something I have crossed searching the Wilson name but can not say for sure. I have been heavy off into my Lindley family in the last week so not much going on the Limestone Co. search. Thanks & I will see if I can help at all. I do know that there were several different Wilson families in Limestone Co. Thornton had one, Wilsons on the west side of the county then several others in Groesbeck. These listed so far are not related to the Box Church Wilsons. Calling them Box Church Wilsons is not totally correct but that is just the way we divide all the families. Some of these "Box Church" Wilsons were in Groesbeck & still are. We have a pretty good family put together on these Wilsons back to 1852 when they came to TX from IL. I know that in Marshall Co TN there is a road called Pylant or Pyland. I ran into this yrs. ago while in Marshall Co. TN searching for my 5th GGrandfather's grave. We were able to find this in a field just off this road. Also know for sure people came from Giles/Marshall Co. TN to Limestone & Robertson Co. TX because one side of my line did. Wanda, the only thing i can tell you right know is that my gggrandfahters brother David Crockett nickname DC was in Limestone in 1880 with a wife TEL. Probably the Thorton or Watt area. My gggrandfather Thomas Absolem Crockett was born in thorton in 1899 And my mother was born in Watt in 1923. My mother is deceased now since 1985 and know a little abut her family except for what i have found out doing genealogy for 2 years. When her mother died in 1936 they moved to Waco area. I have found all my mothers family back 5 generations except for the families of 4 siblings for my gggrandfahter James Crockett b 1860 as per census Jasper Co 1880 married a Elizabeth Kelly. nothing else is known of James at this time or his family Sarah Crockett possibly married a Durden or Dryden David Crockett b 1854/56 census sa;ys 1856 but his tombstone reads 1854 buried in Leon co tx David is in Limestone in 1880 but dead in Jan 1900 and have not been able to find aby other census for him or wife after 1880 Limestone. He may have married a Elzina Rutherford but if so then who is TEL Very confusing this Crockett family. Debra in Tx Martha Crockett b 1858 Jasper Co may have died before 1870 she is not on census with other family members but unable to find a marriage or grave for her. ----- Original Message ----- From: <[email protected]> To: <[email protected]> Sent: Tuesday, November 27, 2001 2:52 PM Subject: Re: [TXLIMEST] Crockett Surname > Debra > > The Crockett surname rings a bell. Debra The Crockett surname rings a bell. Mother said one of her cousins married a Crockett years ago but I have NO info at all supporting this, so will ask you. Her name would have been Buna Vista DeLoach Hamilton Kennedy Crockett. Buna died in McKinley TX hospital Aug. 22, 1922 and may have been living in Abilene TX. Mother said she had cancer. She had one son by Hamilton & a daughter Gorda with Bill Kennedy husband #2. No children with Crockett. Pat, I will check Cobb carefully. You want a big chuckle? The same census entry at genealogy.com is indexed as Saura for the given name!!!!!! Barb
Barb Boy did I misread that film. I copied that off the film myself. You might want to check Cobb Cem. pretty careful. Lots of people in the Thornton & Davis Prairie area buried at Cobb. Also there are some Deans still living in the area. If you are interested in talking with her let me know. I don't know if she would know that much as she was married to a Deans. I will keep my eye open for your McCaig as I dig. I am still trying to remember the name they are connected to in Robertson Co. & can not right now but it will come to me one of these days. Pat, Thanks so much for your reply. Believe it or not, the census citation you sent I already have and the Laura was a mistranscription from the images. That household is Sarah M. McCAIG. The child Enouch listed (actually spelled Enoch) is my grandfather. Thanks for the clue about Davis Prairie. Enoch left home and lived with a Sherman Dean as a farm hand and in 1906 he joined the Methodist Church at Rogers Prairie. Later he settled in Madison Co., TX. Again, thanks for the info. Barb in MS
David Boy I am confused now. I thought you did not have the list anymore or I would have emailed you. When did you get the list back? I know that the virus can not come through the list but is attaching to emails sent to the list after the email hits the infected computer. This virus is no ones fault they just get shipped all over the net when they get going. Thank You David & good to have you back.
