    1. [TXLIMEST] Rice Henderson Update
    2. Patricia Oates
    3. I found Rice Henderson in 1840 Jackson Co. ALA census & in 1850 Sevier Co. Ark. living neighbors to his dau. Martha Henderson b: 1835 who married Nathan Henry Jackson. They came to TX some time after 1850 & are in the 1860 LCT census they are neighbors to the King L Henderson family who also came from Jackson Co. ALA. These families were in the Box Church/ Old Union areas but at this time these locations were not called what they are known as today & the roads were in different locations. Rice Henderson did not have a wife in the 1850 census so this makes it even more possible that he is the Rice Henderson who married Susan Phifer who was in LCT. Talking to a friend in Limestone Co. he said his Aunt thought Rice Henderson was buried in Phifer Cem. but his marker can no longer be found if he is. Children of Rice Henderson found so far: Henry b abt 1832 TN Martha b: abt 1835 TN married Nathan Henry Jackson John b abt 1838 TN John Henderson was living with Nathan H & Martha Henderson Jackson in the 1850 & 1860 census. Henry was living with Rice Henderson in the 1850 census. Thanks Pat Oates in TX

    1. [TXLIMEST] Sam Bradley Family
    2. Patricia Oates
    3. Is anyone on the list working on any of the Limestone Bradley families? I am trying to place Ella Bradley b: May 1881 married Eli Cox Jr b: Feb 1874 into a family. I can place a Sam A Bradley family in the Old Union area about the correct time for her to be his child but with no 1890 census can not place her in Sam Bradley family for sure. She was born after 1880 & married before 1900. Information indicates that Sam Bradley talked the George Smith family into coming to this area to teach school & the George Smith family is buried at Old Union Cem . Also talking to a resident of that area who has been there all his life referred to a local piece of land still being called the Bradley pasture & he knew of a Cox/Bradley connection in the Old Union area. All these indications do not make Ella Bradley Cox the dau. of Sam Bradley but I trying to place her in a family as a child. There was a pretty good group of Bradley families across the Navasota River from Old Union in the Lost Prairie/Personville areas but do not have this Sam Bradley connected to them. Sam A Bradley married Helen Enezed Phillips dau. of John James Phillips. They along with the only child I have for this family C R Bradley are buried at Thornton Cem. along with her parents the John James Phillips. Thank for any help Pat Oates in TX.

    3. Barb Call the courthouse 254-729-5504 tell Sue Lown that I told you to call & get her to make you a copy & mail it. She is the county clerk. I don't remember what they charge for marriage but birth & death are around 10.00 for cert. copy. What do you want out of the 1880 census? I will go back into it soon & will pull it for you if I know what you want. If the marriage info is correct those Rose families were in the Prairie Grove area north of the Navasota River & north of Lost Prairie. I have only put one Rose family in the computer & it is a Henry with no birthdate but he married a lady born 1896 so that gives you some idea. Pat Oates in TX. 3. To any list member who resides in Limestone Co.: I am searching for any information on Edward McCAIG. He was born 1866 in KS and died before 1900 in Limestone Co. The 1900 Census shows his widow, Sarah M., in Precinct 8, East of the railroad. Sarah had 12 children, six living. The oldest living child was born in 1887 and the youngest child (my grandfather) was born in 1894. I am estimating that Edward and Sarah were married circa 1880 and Edward died between 1894 and June 1900. I have found that there was a marriage record of a J.D. McCaig and S.M. Rose 17 Oct 1880 in Limestone. Since the 1900 Census index has Sarah listed as Saura, it is possible that J.D. should have been transcribed E.D. My questions are: What cemeteries would have been located in and around Precinct 8? Does anyone have cemetery records with any McCaigs listed? Does anyone have access to the 1880 Census for Limestone? Does anyone go to the county courthouse who would be willing to copy the McCaig-Rose marriage record? I would be delighted to reimburse for costs of copying, etc. Would appreciate any help with locating great grandfather. His father was John S. McCaig. Barb McCaig Nannery in MS
