Sam was born in Madison Co. NC (Western NC) around 1879. Sam is the son of James Carter (Jim) and Martha Sellers Thomas. Sam's sister was Mary E. Thomas and his brothers were Emmet and Joe Thomas. Sam left Madison Co. NC around 1903 and moved to Texas and I am told he lived in Lamar and that is where he raised his family. Sam is believed to have had at least a couple of sons.
