One resource is the book written by Jack H. Goins "Melungeons: and Other Pioneer Families." It will depend on what area of the country you are searching, as other authors have written about other areas. This is the Melungeons of Tennessee, Virginia and North Carolina. There are several groups of Melungeoons.
