Notes for James David Brown James David Brown served in the Cavalry at Chattanooga, TN, on Lookout Mountain. The story says that as the enemy was pursuing them, he and several other soldiers had to make a run for it. There was no place to go but straight down into the Tennessee River. 'Mrs. John Husk, the former Miss Mattie Florence Brown, who lived here at 924 Cedar St., died Monday about 10 p.m. in a convalescent home in Dallas. She had been in ill health there some time. The funeral was arranged for Tuesday at 5 p.m. at Fry-Gibbs chapel, conducted by the Rev. Velbert Hayes of Ramseur Baptist Church, with interment in Evergreen Cemetery.
