Thanks so much for this posting. The William Edward St. Clair (b c1828 AL) is the one I have been looking for. I went back and looked at the marriage license of William and Mary and her middle initial could very well be a J. I read it as an I because it didn't loop below the line. The listing in the 1860 Lamar County census is proof, because their daughter, Sarah Eliza St. Clair is my husband's great-grandmother. I hadn't researched St. Clair as Sinclair before, so I missed this posting. In the 1870 Lamar County census the two children are living with J.Q.A. Walker, who supposedly was their foster father and an elder with the Lamar Church of Christ. So whatever happened to Mary J. Turner St. Clair remains a mystery. I would like to have more info on William's parents, Daniel and Pherebe (Roland) St. Clair. I'm new at this ... is it OK to exchange e-mail addresses?
