Re: Mamie Rodgers If this is the same person as my Aunt Mamie Rodgers, this is what I have written in my book. Gus Henry Hutchison was my grandfather who I remember meeting at the age of five or six on his farm in Petty, Texas. I liked getting up at 4 a.m. and having breakfast with him and my Aunt Mamie, a lady from my grandmother Lilly's first marriage to John Lowe Hughes. Gus would leave for the cotton and vegetable fields and not be seen again until dark. Gus and Lilly were not 'talkers'. My Aunt Mamie was always trying to help me decipher who was related to whom and how to tell time. I never got tired of her stories. Gus had electricity put in but one day (according to Sid), but while trying to work on a light switch, shocked himself. After that, no electricity was ever used again in that house. We used coal oil lamps. They only had an 'out house'. We used well water too. Definitely it was an experience to visit the farm and taking a bath in a tub full of rain or well water on the side porch.
