I am researching various African American families of Lamar County. My ggrandmother was Elizabeth Geron who married Luke Hodge, Sr. I haven't been able to find anything on her birth family. I have the book Solomon Geron and His Descendants written by Jewell Woodard. She writes that a negro man was captured during the War of 1812 by Simeon Geron. He reared him and brought him to Lamar County, along with his family in 1854. This man later was the head of the Negro Gerons there. Does anyone have info any info on this man's and his family?
