The Sockwells, and Brownlees are also in my family tree as the y are connected to my Rodgers family If you have connections please contact me. I do not see anyone in the picture connected to my Adams family of Lamar Co but there very well could be some. How do I go about getting a clean copy as per your email??? Jim S

Hi Jama, You are facing the same problems as I am, brick walls. My folks came to Lamar Co. sometime between 1841-1845 because the last child was born in TX 1845. ?Where did you find the book? I would love to have one. Whick county line are you thinking? I just might find his grave somewhere near it. He died in 1877. I have a map of originial owners and I will look for his name and get back to you. Carolyn, both Amazon.com and Alibris Books have the book, but its very expensive now! My John R. Jones seems to have bought a farm on the old Witherspoon (?) property. I assume this man owned a lot of property in Lamar Co. John's wife was names Mandy but I don't know her last name. I would be most grateful for anything you might run across! The marker I stated as Dessie Lynn is actually Bessie Lynn. Thanks to Debra for pointing that out to me from records. I went back and zoomed in on my photo and yes it is Bessie. Also seems I recall the Moseley name being mentioned recently on this board. So I did take a picture at the Old City Cemetery of a marker of a 20 yr old born to J.W. & M.M. Moseley. The marker is a small to medium size slab type, it is broken into two pieces, but has been laid in place in the area of the others that I said gave the appearance of a tile floor. The first name is not clear, it appears as DA M. I have tried to make "Adam" out of it but the M seems to me a middle initial, maybe it is ADA M. JW & Mary Ann Moseley, her mother Annie Rucker Hodge and others. Gravestones date back to 1840's and 50's. My notes say the location is "under the water tower." If the water tower just NW of downtown is still there, should be easy to find. Sorry I don't remember and didn't record the exact street. Jim, I do not know if our Adams's are connected to the Elisha Adams you are asking about. I do not know much about our Adams line, except that my Adams -- was John T. Adams b. in Alabama - 1821 - came to Texas sometime between 1840- 1850, lived in Leon County, Texas, had wife Nancy, two sons & a daughter, then had another wife & son. He must have died sometime between 1870 - 1875. His older son James Thomas Adams was my great grandfather. Have not been able to find any more information on John T. Adams -- who his parents, siblings were or anything else. P. Adams ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com
Please note that while you can't pull up a list of names by cemetery name, Old City Cemetery has been recorded and is in the Death and Cemetery Records of Lamar County, TX. Every known cemetery has been recorded there. If anyone knows of one that isn't there, please let us know. See http://gen.1starnet.com/ and click on "Cemeteries" to find the link to search the database. That database is an awesome resource created by Ron Brothers and a team of volunteers. Betsy
