    1. Re: [TXLAMAR] Marriage of William H. Wynn & Mary Bockman(?) in ca1860/61
    2. nandixon
    3. For the benefit of subsequent researchers, I was able to figure out who the Mary is who married William H. Wynn after his first wife Frances apparently died. Her name is actually Mary Bachman Hale. Mary appears on the 1860 Hawkins Co., TN census with father Philip S. Hale (b.1793, TN) and mother Elizabeth [Bachman] (b.1799, TN). Ancestry.com's OneWorldTree has this Mary Bachman Hale with a birthdate of 23 Nov 1834, and that month and year is a perfect match for the dating given for Mary B. Wynn (as a widow) on the 1900 Delta Co., TX census. Mary does have a sister named Frances Louisa Hale (b.1837, TN), but this is definitely not the same Frances who first married William, as this sister is still living at home (and is of the wrong age anyway) when William is initially shown married to Frances (also on the 1860 Hawkins Co., TN census). An unverified Internet source gives a date of 21 Oct 1868 for Mary B. Hale's marriage to William H. Wynn, so my previous estimate of 1860/61 is apparently wrong. Thus it appears that Frances and Mary aren't sisters afterall, but rather cousins of some sort. So the most important question still remains of who are the parents of the Frances (Bachman?) (b.ca1828, TN) who first married William Wynn . . .? __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! 2. This below came from _The Index to Texas Probate Records_ (http://www.three-legged-willie.org/texas.htm) Wynn, W. H. deceased Aug 02 1898 Delta I also noticed and found William H with Mary and children: William R, Hiram W., also there is another son, that I can not read the name, that is 4 years old and a cousin by the name of Mollie that is 12 years old. This was on the 1880 Delta County Census. Maybe you can get someone to go look at the probate records for information for you. There is no marriage records that I can see on the marriage record index look up for Lamar County. ************************************** See what's new at http://www.aol.com

    1. [TXLAMAR] Marriage of William H. Wynn & Mary Bockman(?) in ca1860/61
    2. nandixon
    3. On the 1870 Lamar Co., TX census there appears a William Winn (Wynn/Wynne) (b.ca1826, VA), wife Mary (b.ca1836, TN), and children John C. (b.ca1850, TN), Huston (b.ca1854, TX), Mary C (b.ca1856, TX), William (b.ca1858, TX), and Hiram (b.ca1860, TX). I know that Mary is a second marriage for William Wynn. On the 1850 Hawkins Co., TN census and the 1860 Lamar Co., TX census, William is married to a Frances (b.ca1828/30, TN). The maiden name for both Frances and Mary is supposedly Bockman (Bachman), so I'm guessing that they may be sisters. From subsequent censuses I'm able to determine that of the children on the 1870 census above that only Hiram is Mary's child, which seems to indicate that Frances must have died immediately following the 1860 Lamar Co. census whereupon William seemingly immediately married Mary. I'm trying to figure out who Frances' and Mary's parents are, and I'm thinking that if I can figure out what Mary's last name was at the time of her marriage to William, that I may be able to find her in a TN or TX household prior to 1870 (i.e., I'm hoping to find her on either the 1860 or 1850 censuses). Can anyone help me with finding a marriage record or solving this mystery? I'm guessing that the marriage would have occurred very shortly after Sept. 1860, the date of the 1860 census. Thanks again. Yes I had found WALKER in the 1860 census as well, looking for the ST.CLAIR children, and wondered about the occupation of "Teacher Comfch" that was listed. I am coming to the conclusion that chances are Mary J. TURNER ST.CLAIR did die. However in 1860 she was abt 27, so she would have died between 1860 and 1870, at an early age. How much more do you know about the Lamar Church of Christ? I believe one of my husband's g-grandfathers, J. GRUBBS, may have been a minister/preacher there around 1889, and I need info on him, too. Thanks so much for this posting. The William Edward St. Clair (b c1828 AL) is the one I have been looking for. I went back and looked at the marriage license of William and Mary and her middle initial could very well be a J. I read it as an I because it didn't loop below the line. The listing in the 1860 Lamar County census is proof, because their daughter, Sarah Eliza St. Clair is my husband's great-grandmother. I hadn't researched St. Clair as Sinclair before, so I missed this posting. In the 1870 Lamar County census the two children are living with J.Q.A. Walker, who supposedly was their foster father and an elder with the Lamar Church of Christ. So whatever happened to Mary J. Turner St. Clair remains a mystery. I would like to have more info on William's parents, Daniel and Pherebe (Roland) St. Clair. I'm new at this ... is it OK to exchange e-mail addresses?
