He was the brother of my grandfather, James Brantley Prichard Jr. We have visited the site of the homestead of Benjamin Prichard (1792-1872)in Wilson County. The house which was build early in the nineteenth century, burned about six or seven years ago But I have pictures to share. Two years ago, a group of we Prichard descendants restored the little cemetery on the property, enclosing it with a chain link fence. Jim: Although you make a good point, these messages were gatewayed from the message boards. The subject line always refers to the posting of the message the person was answering. Not everyone that participates on the message board is subscribed to this list, so they may not know what we are facing at this end with their subject lines. Our only other option is not allow these messages to come to our list. But Betsy and I both feel the information that may come our way is more valuable. The knowledge our members also contribute to the boards can't be measured. Nothing is better than having locals that can help people out with information they may otherwise have difficulty obtaining. If you have any comments, please respond to me privately, and not to the list. Thanks! Sue TXLAMAR listadmin
Betty, could you tell me who your JOHN WARD married? I have a picture that was given to me by one of my Johnson family descendants of John Ward and wife. None of us know the connection. On the back of the picture is the following notes; "John Ward and wife, cousin of Annie Johnson. This is for Mrs Tennie Beaty bee sure and send it to her". Note: Tennie Crawford Beaty was the wife of Lewallyn Burr Beaty Sr. If the writer meant that John Ward was a cousin of Anne Johnson, he is likely a son of Tennie's sister because Annie (Beaty) Johnson was Tennie's daughter. His name was Prentice Davis Jefferies, the son of William Davis, and the nephew of the more prosperous Prentice Davis. Although we visited their house when I was little I don't remember what part of town it was in at all. I'd be interested in what anyone knew about Grandpa "Jeff" as we called him - William Davis Jefferies. His tombstone is misspelled as "Jeffries" and says WWI on it, but I don't know what part he played. (I see that I sent a photo without "Graham" last time. I have some of a prom court and what appears to be group shots of choirs but I think they are probably from Dumas HS. Important Note: The author of this message may not be subscribed to this list.
