Help!, I am seeking information and assistance on locating my Clark family ancestors in Smith/VanZandt Co. The 1850 census of Van Zandt lists Isom Clark, b. 1797. It also included Joseph Clark, b. 1825, Tennessee. These two families lived next to each other in that census. In the 1860 census, both families lived in Smith Co. I believe that this Isom Clark is my ggg grandfather and Joseph Clark is my gg grandfather. I believe that Joseph had at least two sons and they were named Isom Jackson Clark and Benjamin Franklin Clark. Benjamin Franklin was born in Missouri in 1847, and is listed on the 1850 census. Isom Jackson Clark was born in Van Zandt Co., in either 1851 or 1857, and is listed on the 1860 census. Benjamin Franklin Clark left Smith Co. and moved to Williamson Co. where he was married to Martha Donnell. He lived in Williamson Co. for a short while before moving to Bell Co. and then to Brown Co for the census of 1880. He is then located in Lamar Co. for the 1900 census. Isom Jackson Clark left VanZandt/Smith Co and travelled to Williamson/Burnet Co where he was married in 1877 to Margaret Greer, daughter of James and Amanda Greer. I would like to share information with anyone doing research on this family. Also if you should know of anyone doing research on this family, I would appreciate receiving their name and address. Would like to hear from descendants of John Benton Fisher and his wife, Virginia Dee Askew Fisher. His parents were Riley Houston Fisher and Nancy Jane Gregston, who were married in Smith County, TN in 1849. Riley Houston Fisher and his wife may have died in the Brazos County, TX area after 1860. John Benton Fisher was raised by his uncle George W. Gregston of Smith County, TN. He married Virginia Askew in Tennessee in 1876, and moved to Texas sometime in the 1880's. I am descended from John Benton Fisher's uncle, Logan G. Fisher of Putnam County, TN. Logan married John's aunt, Martha Gregston, in Smith County, TN in 1853. Logan died in Putnam County, TN near the twin oaks community near Cookeville in 1899 and Martha died in 1911. They are buried in Thomas Cemetery in Putnam County. The lineage of John Benton Fisher is as follows: John Benton Fisher>Riley Houston Fisher>John Fisher III and Ailsey Reynolds>John Fisher Jr. and Elizabeth Cooksey>John Fisher Sr.(Rev. War Veteran) and Elizabeth (Tubb?)>Nicholas Fisher and ?... Aisley Reynolds Fisher was the daughter of James Reynolds who came to Tennessee from North Carolina before 1810. James Reynold's mother was Martha Gay Reynolds, daughter of John Gay of Nash County, N.C. The Gay lineage goes back to Henry Gay Sr. of Isle of Wight Virginia. Henry Gay Jr., John Gay's father, married Joan Lawrence and this lineage goes back into the 1500's or further. Would like to hear from John Benton's descendants or anyone working on this family. Thank you, Will Smith wolfslayer@ficom.net

Hello, Am interested in communicating with anyone with the surmane SLUSHER in Lamar County in their family lines. Regards and thanks, Otis (Slusher) in Florida
I am looking for information on a Martha Isabel ELLIS, who would have married an Orr, circa 1890. Not sure what his first name was. I have been told that it may have been William or Isaac James. Marthas name may have been HODGES, at the time that she married ORR. Martha, b 1875, was raised in Miller Grove, Hopkins Co., Texas. She was listed with her father, Samuel Newton ELLIS, in Miller Grove, TX, on the 1880 Census. When I find her on the 1900 Census in Mill Creek, I.T., she is listed as Martha ORR and as a widow living with her father. Martha and ORR had three daughters, my husbands grandmother, Dessie Olena, b 1892, Ova Antheline, b 1896, and Eva Marie, 1898. Martha was also known to go by the name Mattie Belle. I am looking for any record that would tie Martha to any ORR. I am at a stand still on this line until I find the elusive ORR. Would appreciate any help anyone can give. I have quite a bit of information on the ELLIS side to share. Not knowing where they were married at, I am sending this post to all of the lists that I belong to in Texas and Oklahoma in the hopes that someone might have some information that will help. Please forgive me if you receive it more than once. Pat Tucson2som@aol.com
