Was advised there are two cemeteries in Lamar Co. named Post Oak. One near the town of Post Oak, northeast of Paris and the second one northwest of Paris. Trying to determine which of the two cemeteries and also if there are other Bumpass buried there. New email: [email protected] Thanks for responding.

    1. Old Newspapers for Lamar County
    2. GAL
    3. Hi, I am wondering if there are old newspapers for Lamar County ? My Birdsong family moved there from TN between 1860-1867. I haven't been able to find them on the 1870 Lamar Co Census because when I tried to read it, it was mostly unreadable. I do know that some of them lived there in the 1870's and 1880's. My Grandmother Josephine Birdsong was born in Blossom in 1869 and her younger brother John W. Birdsong was born there in 1872. I'm not sure when but some of the Birdsong children (there were 12 of them) moved into Indian Territory settling around Antlers in Pushmataha County. In the early 1880's there was a murder committed and my Great Grandmother Charlotte Birdsong was taken to Ft Smith AR to be a witness. While there she was poisoned in her food and died 02 March 1885 before she could testify. I'm working on the Ft Smith records end but need to know what is available in Lamar County that might lead me to more information on the family and hopefully help me solve some of the mysteries. Thanks. Gloria in California

    2. Connie Karle
    3. Dear Stuck in Ohio, I know that my great great grandfather, Elijah Allison, was a cabinet maker and he lived in Paris, Lamar County, Texas. In some handwritten papers I found it says, "Lige made cabinets. During the Civil War, he gave them free of charge to women whose men were serving." He migrated to Texas prior to 1849. That is about all I know. Hope it helps a little bit..............Connie Karle I am a Paris native with long time Lamar County roots. Is there any record for OLD furniture makers in or around Paris? This would be pre-Civil War. Thanks for any help I can get. Stuck in Ohio.
